this idea is exactly how it sounds, all of the blocks that could be surrounded by water can now also be surrounded by lava, and lava can flow from these blocks as well, just like water-logged blocks.
I’m honestly really surprised this isn’t already a feature, it would open up a lot of possibilities for buildings, parkour maps (emphasis on HOW MUCH this would help out parkour maps), adventure maps, etc. I have always been so frustrated making parkour, and being limited in my creativity because of this.
This probably isn't a feature because lava is uncommonly placed with such blocks (in vanilla survival). It would burn most of the wooden water loggable blocks, but yes it would be a nice feature.
That is silly as it would have... Wait..... How many uses would it have? Oh yeah, i remember, ZERO. Lava would burn most blocks and it would have no use.
I only have one issue with this suggestion. What would happen if you lavalogged a burnable block? If it's fully surrounded by lava, there's nowhere for fire to spawn. Therefore, it can't burn. However, that seems far too unrealistic for the "gameplay > realism" argument, especially since it would be such a minuscule gameplay enhancement to begin with. Having lavalogged burnable blocks detect when they are fully surrounded doesn't seem like a good option, especially since the ability for Magma Blocks to randomly evaporate water beside them was removed in 1.13 for performance reasons.
Otherwise, I support this.

If you'd like to talk with me about other games, here are a few I play.
Team Fortress 2
Borderlands series (Borderlands 2 is my favorite game, ever. TPS combat is a lot of fun and makes up for the lower-quality story, in my opinion)
Elder Scrolls series
Warframe (IGN is something like That_One_Flesh_Atronach)
Pokémon series (HGSS forever)
Rocket League
Fallout series
Left 4 Dead 2 (Boomer files always corrupt though)
SUPERHOT (SUPERHOT is the most innovative shooter I've played in years!)
Dead Rising series (Dead Rising 2 is one of my favorite games, and the 3rd was a lot of fun. 1st has poor survivor AI and the 4th is bad)
Just Cause series
Come to think of it, I mainly play fighting-based games.
A lot of people are raising if you lava-logged a burnable block, and to that I say that it would, simply, just burn the block (if there are any air spaces around it) and leave behind the lava source block. This works the same way with normal blocks when you put them in lava, and besides, logically you shouldn't be putting wooden blocks in lava in the first place. Even if there aren't air blocks around the wooden lava-logged block, you usually won't have to look at it (unless you surrounded it with glass for whatever reason).
I don't suppose it would really be a problem one was likely to come across very often naturally but I'm thinking trying to tunnel through lava-logged blocks could be a nightmare. Sorta like the traps for the unwary caused by the redstone ore bug that makes it hard to place water next to redstone ore.
It's annoying to try to clear water from shipwrecks with their water-logged stairs and slabs, lava-logged stairs and slabs could pose a real danger.
How are you thinking lava-logged blocks would react to coming in contact with water?
Would they turn into cobblestone-logged blocks, or would the lava be impervious to water, or something else?

Seems like a good idea, and I think its cool. The only issue is that I don't feel like many people would use it in survival, and even in creative I don't think many people would use the feature in builds. Its just kinda obscure. Cool concept though!
That is silly as it would have... Wait..... How many uses would it have? Oh yeah, i remember, ZERO. Lava would burn most blocks and it would have no use.
You say it would have no use but the op gave an example of what he would use it for in his post. Because you wouldn't use a feature doesn't mean others wouldn't and it shouldn't be in the game.

I think this is a great idea! It also would be good to add now because of the Nether Update! You could also water log barrier blocks on the bedrock edition (something which should be in Java), so this would be great feature for people who are making puzzle maps or traps!
Full Support!
One other bit of speculation, what if we could also log blocks with things like snow, sand or gravel?

Well if you place a burnable block fully surrounded by lava right now it will still burn, so I'm pretty sure if you lava log a burnable block it would just burn.

Well one idea could be a great trap for a base. In the bedrock edition you can water log barrier blocks and walk over it like the water is a solid block itself. This would be great if you are building an adventure map and say want to lava log blocks to make a sort of maze!

I can see it being used for traps/gate-keeps in survival and for designing volcanic ruins in creative. Still, parkour is clearly the main raison d'etre here.

It's a bug that stops you placing blocks or water against redstone ore (unless you crouch) that makes it harder/take longer to block lava flows in your mine tunnels, since you don't run into redstone ore next to the lava very often, and might not even see it, you can lose valuable seconds trying to figure out why you aren't able to plug the hole in the usual way.
I'm curious, how would this be useful for parkour?
How are you thinking lava-logged blocks would react to coming in contact with water?
Which tool would be the best tool if a lava-logged block could be obsidianized (mostly doesn't matter except for wooden stairs/slabs/fences/etc)? Would it be the axe for the wooden block, would it be the pick for the obsidian, or would it be both? I could see that working well for puzzle maps.
A lava-logged block is probably movable with a piston, but obsidian is not. If we can create an obsidianized block that used to be lava-logged, would the obsidian prevent it from being moved or would it not be "real" obsidian?
What's the blast resistance of an obsidianized block? It clearly should be more than the normal block, but maybe it shouldn't be equal to "real" obsidian?
How would redstone pass through an obsidianized block? Would it retain the limits of the original block or would the addition of the obsidian render it a full block now?
If you lava-logged a block such that you couldn't see the lava, would you still burn if you stepped on that block? After all, it's in the same block space.

Is it just for aesthetics, or...?
Have you ever heard of 'the floor is lava'?

Not according to the Wiki, and my own experience (albeit in 1.6.4); lava won't even burn blocks below it even if there is air around it since it can only set blocks above it on fire (e.g. a wood floor is safe from lava placed on top of it, including around the edges of the lava; by contrast, fire itself has different spread mechanics, including being able to spread up to one block downwards):
In order for air above lava to turn to fire, a block adjacent to the air has to be flammable, or one of the wood-constructed non-flammable blocks. Since catching fire depends on air blocks, even torches or lava itself can prevent a flammable block from catching fire. Additionally, not all flammable or wood-constructed blocks can be ignited by lava.
Lava can also destroy blocks like tall grass and torches when it flows into them regardless of whether they are completely surrounded but this is separate from burning (water does the same thing as it is a property of liquids).

'Zero use', except for maybe every single other block that doesn't burn.

I think it would be easier to deal with (and more workable for the a e s t h e t i c) if lava-logged blocks simply didn't interact with water.
That would be both one less thing to worry about when programming it and one wouldn't have to spend time worrying about what would take priority.
