So here's a different kind of idea; I was just exploring a newly generated world for a while, then I thought of what it'd be like if I stumbled across old creations of mine and old areas. It reminded me a bit of Spore, where you could stumble across other players creations all the time; their creatures, buildings, spaceships etc.
So maybe if perhaps each time you logged in to minecraft you could have the option of downloading other players chunks or areas, and having them randomly - but also smoothly - appear in your world.
I've done this by changing my spawn to some far far far far away coordinates. Have yet to find anything recognizable in any of my worlds. Though it will be fun when/if I do.

The next time an authority asks me, "What could possibly have given you such a lack of respect for the value of human life?" I will respond, "Sir, have you even BEEN to the internet?"

What?? Each minecraft world has a different seed, so thats impossible

I edit my spawn point in my own world to a far away location. Making it seem like I'm in a new world, but with the knowledge that somewhere, there's a city waiting to be plundered.

What he means is he starts a world and builds things and then gets bored and changes his spawn point in that world to somewhere far away and starts over, in that same world, but really far away.

I suggest you ask Azanoth how to change his spawn and do what he said. It proves to be a good simulation. Minecraft has a lot of possibilities, suggesting a game with no goal is suggesting to a game with infinite possibilities.

A man can only understand the worth of his present for all eternity once he gets to see his future and past just once.

Minecraft's possibilities are FAR from infinite.
