Basically, the Musk Ox is my favorite animal. I searched for it first and wasn't quite satisfied, since the only result was the huge list of animals and their biomes. Here is that topic: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=158724
I thought I should expand on this one beast.
So here goes: the Musk Ox in Minecraft.
Appearence: Obviously large. About 25% bigger than the cow.

As stated in the other thread, the Musk Ox spawns in the taiga/tundra area. They should spawn in groups of 4-5 and move somewhat-together( becuase they are social animals). The Musk Ox is big and slow. Therefore it can only jump one square and won't jump all that often.
The Musk Ox is incredibly strong and not easy to bring down. Here is the amount of hearts per difficulty.
Peaceful: 10 hearts.
Easy: 12 hearts.
Normal: 15 hearts.
Hard: 20 hearts.
On easy and above the Musk Ox is nuetral until provoked when it will attack the player. The beast delivers an attack that elimiates 3 hearts by ramming the player.
Upon the death, the Musk Ox could drop a number of things.
Of the items that already exist:
Wool
Leather
Meat (obviously not pork...)
But then if these items were dropped, why would the player attack it? All that work for items that can be gained easily from other mobs (sheep, cows, pigs).
Therefore, I propose that the Musk Ox drop between 1-2 horns.
Explanation of the new items and their uses, one at a time.
1. Stronger bow
Crafting:

where equals horn and ]" title="-<->" /> equals string.
This creates a stronger bow. This bow does an extra 1/2 heart of damage than the it's stick made cousin and shoots 50% farther.
2. This ties with stronger arrows
Arrows are crafted the same, but with horn instead of flint like so:

however, would the arrows have any benefit?
They can only be fired with the stronger bow, because they are heavier than normal arrows.
These arrows then do another extra 1/2 heart of damage from the other bow/arrows.
Therefore the stronger bow and arrows do an extra heart of damage as compared to its stick-crafted cousin.
3. Dagger
Using the horn as a handle, the dagger is made like so:

The dagger could be used for... what you ask?

The dagger has a chance to get 50% more wool from sheep and 25% more leather from cows. And does 1/2, 1, or 1 1/2 heart damage, respectively.
Now... the "trumpet" (I'll just refer to it as a shofar from here on out).

When right-clicked it plays a shofar-horn sound.
Upon it's playing, 2 NPC characters will spawn and come to your aid. They will be outfitted with leather armor and iron swords. There is a 20% chance that one carries a bow. They will aid you for one 24 Minecraft hours, then they will leave. Picture a horn of Gondor type item. To keep things balanced, it must "recharge" for one Minecraft week. During that period the horn will simply make noise and alert hostile mobs to your location. ssssss...

i like the musk ox idea i think it seems pretty good to add, but some of the horn stuff like the shofer or the trumpet isnt the best. But you have great ideas
This idea is pretty flushed out. Congratualations. The shofar is a good idea but best reserved for the mods forum I think.
The idea of the whole Musk Ox as a neutral mob appeals to me but I don't know about the whole, stronger bow + arrows thing. I am in favor of the stronger arrows but I'm not too sure about them only being able to be used with the stronger bow. Otherwise, the horn idea is good.
