I see a lot of people around the forums asking for new ores like Copper and Tin, to make Bronze with. But everyone seems to be missing a few good uses for the light metal that really need to be said. So don't tell me that Copper has been suggested before (because the search is down, and finding it is a little difficult atm), but because I'm suggesting NEW ideas for the already proposed Ore that should give the idea even more backing.
So without Farther ado,
COLORED LIGHTING
When you were young, did your parents ever give you a few threads of Copper Wire to throw into the fire? if so, you should remember that the Copper would make the fire burn in different colors. Blue, and green, and purple, and white usually. Now, given that Minecraft doesn't HAVE to stick with the restrictions of reality, we could make those differently colored fires give off a different colored light as well.
The idea here would be to make a fire, or a torch, and right click it while holding a copper ingot (which would spend it) to change it's color. The brighter the color, the more copper you would have to use-- So, in the order of R-O-Y-G-B-I-V, Red would cost nothing, Orange would cost 1, Yellow 2, green 3, blue 4, Indigo (or white) 5, Violet 6. A 7th would reset it to Red. As I stated, this idea would be the same on Torches as well! Simply right click a torch with Copper in hand to change it's color.
REDSTONE CIRCUITRY
Where we just recently gained the Repeater, Copper has an interesting property as a conduit. Energy passed through copper can travel much faster and more efficiently than normal redstone, and so it would be thought of to use it as a way to make Redstone pass energy Faster and Farther. But, allowing it to replace redstone altogether would be a bad idea. Instead, the Copper tubing would be an individual block that would have to be placed like the Repeater/Diode. When placed, it will carry a redstone circuits 2 extra blocks.
As we know, when placed alone, Redstone travels 15 blocks, then dies out. When the Copper is hooked up to it, the current level of life forward two spaces. This allows you to double the lifetime of circuitry, and make things run more efficiently. My proposed recipe for the Copper Extender would be like the Diode, but with copper ingots replacing the stone.
AESTHETICS
We all know that polished copper looks really nice, and being a light metal makes it easy to work with. It's just very malleable! In old times, Copper is used for Door Knobs, Jewelry, Pots and Urns, Plates, Mirrors, etc. So just use your imagination and lets say you can make some nice Copper Vases to put Flowers into! Or how about a nice copper ring to show off your fashionableness! Rings themselves can bring a variety of uses to Minecraft, such as giving them magical properties that will aid you on your adventure through the world, BUT that idea is for a different time. In ancient times, when polished enough, Copper could be used as a Mirror. Also, due to Coppers antimicrobial properties, it was also used for frequently used surfaces like Doorknobs and Plates, making them a safe, healthy alternative to the germaphobe in everyone.
CURRENCY
People have been using Copper as currency throughout history. It is plentiful, and looks dang good as a coin. A single Copper Ingot could offer 9 coins to be used to barter with NPC villages (whenever notch gets around to those) or as a way to trade between players in Online Servers.
Honestly, there isn't much more to say about this, except that it is historically accurate. *shrug* idk.
Oh, and lets not forget that you can indeed combine it with Tin to create Bronze, which we all know is a good material for Weaponry, Armor, and Fortification. But like I said. We already know that.
No currency and the good parts of this have already been suggested all in one thread.

I am just a guy looking for good suggestions that are original, creative, and match the theme of Mine-craft. I have some mob ideas that I need help forming which is a community project.

All I see is people asking for Copper so they can make Bronze. That's it. They always look past it's conductive properties and it's sheer pleasant look when refined. I have seen some threads about it, but none mention how it is a natural germicide.
