Okay, here's my crazy suggestion of the day. I've heard cars be suggested a few times, but it never seemed to be a solid enough idea to get much credibility. So I came up with a way of making jeeps that would actually make sense, and also be difficult enough to craft to make them a unique and rare vehicle.
However, this idea would not work without the implementation of rubber blocks. If you want to see my idea of how to craft rubber, visit this thread --> viewtopic.php?f=1&t=192811
If you don't like that one, I also heard a neat suggestion that 9 slimeballs would make a more green, transparent rubber block that could also work. Doesn't matter which but one of the two would need to be implemented.
Anyways, the first item you'd need to craft would be a wheel. This would be a relatively simple recepie:
( = Rubber)
[] []
[] []
Crafting this would create a wheel. Obviously it wouldn't be actually round, but probably like a circle made of squares. When you've crafted four wheels, the next step would be to make two sets of wheels and axels:
( = Wheel)
[] []
[] []
[] []
Once you've made two of these, you can begin on the dashboard by making the windsheild:
[] [] []
This would yeild three panes of glass about as thick as a door that you could either use as windows for a house, or the front windsheild of your car. In this case, obviously, it's the car. The next step on the dashboard is the steering wheel, which is really just an inverted wheel:
( = Rubber)
[] []
[] []
Then make a lever and a button, and you're ready for the dashboard:
( = Steering Wheel)
( = Lever)
( = Button)
( = Windsheild)
Once you have that done, the rest is fairly simple. First, make the roof:
( = Button)
Finally, make a minecart and a furnace and you're ready to craft:
( = Dashboard)
( = Wheels and Axel)
( = Roof)
( = Minecart)
[] [] []
Once you've crafted this, you can now use your fully functional car! Drop it anywhere by right clicking, put some poal in the furnace to power it, and right click the minecart to hop in! While inside, you'll see the world as normal, but the dashboard will appear in front of you. Move around as usual with wasd, and click the lever to change the speed of your car. The car will always be drivable when powered by coal, but if you put a lot of coal in and don't need to use all of it, press the button on the dashboard to stop the car from consuming any more fuel. To exit the car, simply jump. If you stop the car, exit, and get back in, it will automatically stop, but if you get out without stopping it, it will just sit there, consuming your coal until it runs out. While driving, the car cannot jump up blocks or go up ladders, but can drive up stairs and half-blocks. If the car falls off a large edge or in to water, it will turn into a placed furnace, a rubber block with a half block on top of it, and a iron block that will be placed wherever it lands. You will lose the wheels and axels.
If you have any comments or suggestions, please don't hesitate to give them. Also, if anyone wants to do some sketches of this stuff on photoshop, that'd be pretty awesome.
No. A lot of work for an eventually worthless contraption. I mean, this thing can only go in straight lines unless you build roads specifically suited to it.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Mr. Conway Twitty.
This is a bad idea. I didn't even have to read it to tell you NO!
No jeeps.
