it was announced in Minecon Live 2019 that you will be able to barter with the piglin mob for "special, rare items" i have two possible uses for said item(s)
1. you can craft a combination of them into blocks, and create an altar at which yo may spawn the "Piglin Brute" boss. this boss may drop an item similar to the Nether Star, but it could have a different use. it could be used to craft a special beacon that gives you the "Golden Eye" effect. this effect would make piglins not attack you regardless of the armor you wear (assuming that they don't attack you in gold armor (based on the footage shown at Minecon Live)) or maybe the item itself could be used in a brewing stand to brew a potion with the same effect.
2. The/an item they will barter with you could be used to reinforce pistons thus increasing their push limit. reinforced pistons could be transformed into a sticky varient as well, and the amount of the item you put in a crafting grid with the piston (1 through 8) could have varying effects on the capacity of the piston.
P.S. it would also be cool if the push limit were a game rule, but i don't know how hard these things are to code, and that could break the game, so it's kind of just a bit of a personal wish.
Thanks for reading, hope this gets where it needs to be, sorry if this has been posted already in advance.
I don't have an opinion on your "Piglin Brute", but I'm pretty sure the piston push limit is to prevent excessive lag from chunk updates. To my knowledge, an extension wouldn't work in the current engine. (Then again, I also know next-to-nothing about the technical side.)

Watch out for the crabocalypse. Some say the day will never come. But it will.
Feel free to drop by for a chat whenever.
If you'd like to talk with me about other games, here are a few I play.
Team Fortress 2
Borderlands series (Borderlands 2 is my favorite game, ever. TPS combat is a lot of fun and makes up for the lower-quality story, in my opinion)
Elder Scrolls series
Warframe (IGN is something like That_One_Flesh_Atronach)
Pokémon series (HGSS forever)
Rocket League
Fallout series
Left 4 Dead 2 (Boomer files always corrupt though)
SUPERHOT (SUPERHOT is the most innovative shooter I've played in years!)
Dead Rising series (Dead Rising 2 is one of my favorite games, and the 3rd was a lot of fun. 1st has poor survivor AI and the 4th is bad)
Just Cause series
Come to think of it, I mainly play fighting-based games.
