Hello fellow minecraftians. Something you may have noticed, and I know I have, is that the Biomes are generally quite small. Finding a large desert for me generally is pretty hard. I think that the Minecraft worlds would be better if they had larger biomes and smoother transistions. Sometimes desert and snow biomes are very small and I usually like living in those enviorments, also I think occasional snowstorms and sandstorms would add some fun to it.
On that note Notch should add a mode with, hunger, wearyness(spelled right?), and a temperature scale of some sort. I know he has talked about adding a hunger bar before, but I haven't seen anywhere with a wearyness or temperture idea. Wearyness is simple, every so often you have to sleep or you'll start moving slower and eventually blacking out and dieing. The temperature would be a fun challenge in snow or deser biomes. Possibly adding new armour/clothing that allows the player to survive outside in an overly hot or cold area. Also maybe expand upon uses for coal and redstone, adding fireplaces and air cooling systems. These could work similar to torches; sending out a different level of heat each block.
I haven't worked out exactly how it could work mostly because I don't fully understand coding with my minimal knowledge, however I think a scale of 1-30 could work. 30 Being extremely hot and 1 extremely cold and then 15 being optimal living conditions. With the temperature scale activated the player would need to either burn coal or wood to keep warm or generate a cooling system. Without it activated using a heater or cooler could be used for a deathchamber for mobs or enemies if it ever went SMP. The spread of the heater/cooler blocks should change based upon suroundings. For example it could spread farther if in an enclosed space. At this point I've run out of ideas except for maybe affecting plant growth.
Unfortunatly I'm a bit sick right now so I'm sorry If any of this was less than coherent. Let me know what you think about my ideas. Utter garbage? Cool idea? Thanks in advance.
On that note

in other words, biomes are good the way they are, just have to play with seed words to get the world you want.
