First of all, this boss would only spawn when you have a ->lit<- nether portal, the longer the portal has remained lit, the higher then chance of the boss spawning, putting out or destroying said portal resets the chance of it spawning.
The idea is that, well, it's a living nether portal.
It'd spawn in a random, unlit area, be about 3 blocks high, 2 wide, and appear as a swirling portal.
When spawned, the sky turns a redish-purple, and a low pitched hum can be heard from nearly anywhere, and flashing red pillars of light can be seen, these are it spawning creepers.
All it would really do is slowly drift toward the player, absorb any block it touches, and spawn creepers.
it would also slow down while attempting to absorb dirt, sand and gravel.
Arrows, swords and suffocation do absolutely no damage to it, instead, it's incredibly weak to explosions, including its own creepers, it'd take about five explosions to kill it on normal.
There is a second way to kill it aswell, while touching it does about 2 hearts of damage per second unarmored (more or less), staying in it long enough would transport you to a small nether-like area with a coal and iron heart in the middle, creepers and/or ghasts spawn in this area, making it more dangerous than attempting to kill it in the overworld
Upon death, it gives up 15 balls of consuming darkness, which act exactly like a snowball does, but explode on hit, and kills anything caught in the explosion.
newly signed forum members not being able to use suggestions due to bad ideas, debate over such, trying to get them to learn what makes an idea good from what flew well before, using me as an example of sorts.
i suppose i'll ask about the third, the boss has a shut-off switch of sorts, being weak to creeper explosions instead of arrows/swords makes it a bit different.
in detail, what do you find wrong with it?
Yg, I really don't advocate the berating of anyone who doesn't just ignore stickies and search and post the same crap.
That being said, this idea does not seem well thought-out. It seems more like a game breaker than something that would add to the game. Granted, I like the idea of some horrible juggernaut in the game, I just don't particularly like the execution here.

A) A living portal is a generally dumb idea.
:cool.gif: It's overpowered.
C) It forces constant dismantling of portals. Dismantling obsidian is already tedious.
D) It terraforms the land via block absorption.
E) It spams creepers.
F) It emits an annoying hum.
G) The drop item is ridiculous. The faux-ominous title given it does nothing to help.
H) It's garbage all around.
I) As your first post, this has created a terrible impression. It is not good practice to start off with something so dreadful.

So that's a definite "no" from me.
If it aint worth fixing dont fix it.
