Guns do not predate explosives, and redstone isn't technology, per say. It's more of a magic/alchemic energy to fit Minecraft's pseudo-fantasy theme.
TNT is just a kind of explosive. It's not even the same category as the one used in guns. Look up the difference between combustion explosion and detonation explosion.
Redstone as the same effect as electric circuits, regardless of the (pseudo-)principles behind.
I'm neither for r against guns. I'm just stating that using "technology level" is an invalid argument.

Air-dropped bombs come in 3 flavours, distinguished by their intelligence: smart, dumb and retarded.
Anyone who says guns are too technologically advanced should be banned from using TNTs and redstone circuits. Guns predate these technologies by more than half a millennium.

Quote fail becomes plagiarism? And having the "same effect" as something does not make it the same type of item. I could boil water over a fire, or I could put it in a microwave. That doesn't mean cavemen should have had microwaves.
Even if you don't put Minecraft at a pre-technology timeframe. The theme is still being without such resources, and working with what you have. I may not be an expert, but if I was stranded with no supplies, I don't think I'd be able to make a functioning gun before I died.

I'm almost 100% positive that this have been suggested before but i'll suggest it again anyways

to see if it was anything beyond what the names suggested. Turns out you don't know either. http://ca.answers.yahoo.com/question/in ... 818AAYIzNP
you can have that simple answer.
you're just saying that because the argument doesn't handle every exception, it is invalid. Which is preposterous. Certain parts of the technology can jump forward, like a minecraft powered by a stove without anything like steam or a turbine. But note the difference and stop talking out of your ass.

sure, some threads are too long to look through, some posts too long.
but the trend has obviously been to ignore previous discussions and post half-assed ideas that are equivalent to 1/8th of the post when the idea was posted before, they don't even skim through it, and what the post is often underdeveloped, I wish it was so ideas with no consideration for gameplay balance for fun/difficulty to be appropriate.
People with new ideas can look back, see the old one, decide theirs is sufficiently different, and make an effort to make it robust and integrated.

there's a computer system dated ~100BC
and TNT cannot even be made with gunpowder. It was called TNT arbitrarily.
So we can get computers now!
