So, most ideas go along the lines of ''tHiS wOUld be CoOl'' but here is an actual idea.
So Owls. I think owls would be an enemy during the night and neutral during the day. And during the night they would attack. Not the player, but they're pets. Everyone is deathly connected to their dogs and cats. So at night while being surrounded by zombies, you hear quick swoosh and a hurt sound, just to look up and see an owl about to drop your beloved friend. Better go catch him/her and fight that owl away!
I think they would spawn in snowy spruce(white colored) and forests(brown). Maybe they would occasionally catch a rabbit. And my favorite thing of all, the Who?'s ringing from the forest.
I think this is a great idea, fits all criteria. Interesting gameplay. Cool new animal. And helps the forest seem more scary/real.
Thank you for putting thought into your suggestion. Looks ominously at the rest of the forum
I would also like to see Owls in Minecraft. However, I do have one issue with this idea - that owls are hostile. In Minecraft, it is a general rule that real-life animals are not hostile. This is because it encourages "animal cruelty". Although I don't agree with Mojang's slippery slope reasoning I would agree that turning an animal "evil" in the eyes of the player is not ideal.
The only animal somewhat real is the Spider, but that is a Giant Spider. Even the Polar Bear which you would assume is to be hostile in a netural mob. You must provoke it. So I think the owl should behave in a similar way. Alternatively turn the owl into a "fantasy" mob and have it behave however you would like.
Spooky and beautiful idea. Owls are one of my favourite animals, and in this post you're providing a lot more information, which is great!! What would be sadder; your innocent, sweet pet being killed by an owl, or you drowning in lava. I'd choose option one! Overall brilliant idea and I would for sure jump for joy if i saw this mob get added!
Great idea, and there should be multiple variants; real ones, and maybe even green Duolingo Owls, because why not. Seriously though, these would be a unique type of mob, and I like how they could be able to swoop down and abduct your fellow pets.
Given that pets seem to be generally kept indoors, I don't see how much of an effect this would have if owls only snatched away pets. On the other hand, those who keep pets outdoors will be unnecessarily troubled with having to either defend their pets constantly, letting them die, or moving their pets. Thus, we lose in a sense some freedom. It might be better to have owls snatch away chickens or livestock. A flying cow would be far more amusing than your hard-earnt cat or dog flying away.

That's the point of an owl- seeing your poor pet fly away, giving even the pro players a sad and annoying experience. Replying to "Given that pets seem to be generally kept indoors, I don't see how much of an effect this would have if owls only snatched away pets.", actually i and ive seen a lot of others venture out with their wolves, and sometimes even Cats and Parrots- maybe you dont, but a lot of others do. I see where you're coming from though.

No, it won't create any additional difficulty or beget any sadness. The reason why? People will just keep their pets indoors at night when at home. When in the field, people use beds to skip the night, or build shelters. Fighting with animals is not a very practical nor common thing, to be honest. Especially not in forests wherein it is proposed these owls spawn.
Actually, there’s been a lot of circumstances where I’ve had to bring my pets on journeys and things, even at nighttime. This would for sure give the newbie players a fright if they saw an owl taking away their wolf! Just because it’s uncommon, doesn’t mean it never happens. - and I still think this would be a really cool addition to the game
I love owls but why its gotta try to kill me man lol, owls dont attack people for no reason at night. I prefer something more realistic as id very much like to take care of an owl in minecraft than be encouraged to kill the thing so i can fight monsters at night lol

A new mob that makes sense? A logical poster and a logical post that also makes sense?

Hey guys I'm James, I used to be a noob but now I'm not, I finally figured out how to use TextCraft so here's a banner for one of my suggestions.

owls can feature in a twin peaks mod. also, while i'm obviously biased, we do need more birds so i support owls as well.

This is the best idea I've seen on the forums so far, I would absolutely love for this to be added!

Great idea. This will punish player who leave their pets outside.
This is my new account created because of the old former account (deadpisces) was corrupted.

basically anyone with a reason is supported but any idea without reasoning gets no support? That's discriminating
