My idea is pretty simple, but I think it would open up opportunities to make tons of awesome new contraptions. My idea is this: If you put a bucket of Water/Lava/any future liquids in a Dispenser, and that Dispenser has nothing else in it, it would act like this:
While the dispenser is being activated by redstone, it will essentially act as a water/lava source block. When the redstone power stops, the water/lava recedes.
This could be useful for making traps, fountains, and more- I'm sure people who are more creative than me would think of plenty of things to do with this.
I've seen this mentioned before, when dispensers were introduced. It was a good idea back then and it still is right now.

Support the Allocator! Find my inventions such as my pressure plate removal detector on the About Me page of my profile.
I'm still looking for more feedback on my configurable Redstone Gate mod. All gates and common circuits (such as e.g. clocks, edge detectors, latches and Flip-Flops) in a single block.
But I'm glad the idea is still getting positive support in any case. Let's keep it alive! The longer it stays up, the more likely it is Notch will notice it.

I give you some
My only issue is that currently, dispensers only go sideways. What about up and down?

He said it would act as a source block, so it would go in whatever direction water would normally, regardless of the direction of the dispenser.
