Because I can't access internet as often I would wish, I'm often playing single player alone, personally, it gets quite boring. Not to mention some tasks can become quite boring. I'm suggesting that (in different ways) you can acquire minions to do simple tasks for you.
Minions are divided into task forces depending on the color of the wool block you give them (Color object) then by hitting them with a rod you change the assignment of their task force to the specific use of the rod.(made of stick+ tool of any material) They must also be given tools.
Being:
Guard: Identifiable for having a two swords on their color object. To assign a spot to guard you must hit them with the rod (individually, otherwise they will all crowd on the same point). then place it on where you want to guard they will kill any mob that approaches them.
Grabber: Identifiable for having a hand on their color object. They will grab any nearby chunks and transport them to a assigned chest, you can assign them a spot like a guard, otherwise they will follow you and grab anything in range. Can also be assigned to grab specific items from one chest and transport them to another.
Farmer: Identifiable for having a leaf on their color object. Will maintain farms. Must have spot selected.
Fisher: Will (when given a rod) fish at a chosen spot) identifiable for having a fish on their back,
There will be several types such as
Golem: Made from
Or any other block of ore, looks like a skeleton but is colored with whatever material it's made of, also wears a hood and cape (Color object). Their strength is determined by the material they're made of. Must be fed some form of rock every 3 in game days or will stop working.
Minotaur: Found in caves, must be given a saddle,
Like a human but with a horizontally longer head and black horns and brown fur (black fur and white horns if found underground). Wears a Band on their horns (color item) Must be fed meat otherwise will run off to hunt and come back shortly.
This would be useful for:
Helping you,
Making castle guards
Creating a more lively ambiance (in both single player and multiplayer)
they could get wildly out of hand in multiplayer, where their helpers could grief yours, and nobody would be the wiser (well, except the griefing player).

Checking already gives you 25% addiction.
No offense, but I like Minecraft the way it is, simple. I hope Notch never adds that idiotic "orc village" or whatever it was.
But anyway, I personally enjoy Single Player as what it is, single player. No AI's besides mobs.
