1. Running
Ever wanted to out run or ? Holding CTRL (or something else, can be remapped) makes you run 1.5x your normal speed, letting you outrun zombies and what-not. (Maybe: When running, your running animation is that "flailing-arms" animation from classic)
2. Spider webs
When in caves, SOMETIMES webs are in corners (About as rare as spiders themselves in caves) and every few minutes, a tiny spider appears in front of it, grows, and turns into an attacking spider. If you punch the web, it instantly breaks and gives you string.
3. Bringing sponges back
DEEP underwater, hidden under sand, sometimes, is sponge, as most people know from classic. It can soak up water around it, but ONLY in places above ground with water. You can't place it in the middle of the ocean and make a huge indent in the water like classic. Good for soaking up leaks in houses, or small water leaks in caves. (Maybe: If put into a crafting square, you get 9 sand. This can't be reversed.)
4. Indev mobs
Remember Steve, Black Steve, Rana, and Beast Boy from Indev? Those could fit in Beta. If you've had a world for a long time, sometimes, a small shelter can generate far away, and an indev mob, let's say Rana, (with new animations of course) could live in it, and possibly just be a "neighbour" thing, give you some items every once and a while, etc. You can kill the mob and steal its stuff, and it's shelter if you're feeling devilish.
This could be turned off. New option- "Neighbours: On/Off"
EDIT: I know notch lost rights, but there could be other things instead of rana, etc
5. Eclipses
Kind of self explainitory. Idea by Wordsarntcool in real life, every 30 minecraft days, the moon and sun collide and make nether mobs spawn above ground. This only lasts for a couple seconds, but this will make ghasts and pigmen above ground.
6. Options that are already in minecraft, but changed a bit
>Redstone on walls.
You go and make a dispenser that shoots arrows on top of a tall pillar, but your redstone doesn't look like it connects properly. Simple fix, and also, allowing redstone to be placed on walls (for switches and what-not)
(More of these soon)
7. Mobs
-Indev mobs (as listed above)
-Attack-creepers
These work as creepers, but instead of exploding, they "punch" you like zombies do. They have arms.
8. Minerals hidden in some dirt
Depending on how deep underground you are, the dirt you mine can be smelted, and rarely, there's minerals in them.
i like the spider webs but they should be craftable by making a X with string in crafting table like this
faether= string ]" title="-<->" /> [] ]" title="-<->" />
[] ]" title="-<->" /> [] ]" title="-<->" /> [] ]" title="-<->" />
idk how they would be placed but would be nice for dungeons and no spider spawns they already spawn in mob spawners

A spider web looks a bit better than a blue cage with a fake spinning spider inside on fire, no?
2. Nah. You're supposed to get string by killing spiders, not webs.
3. Dirt already soaks up water, just drop it on the source.
4. If they were altered appearance-wise, maybe. But still mostly no.
5. NO. A few seconds is all it takes for a ghast to burn the world down.
