This is more of a smaller suggestion but it would be nice having a way to stop pigmen from going agro on you, which is mostly common on multiplayer servers where 1 player hits a pigman, and all of them remain agressive for a good while.
What I was thinking was aproaching them with an item pigmen would probably love to have, you would hold that item, the pigmen would slow down and look at you, you right click one of them with it and they will go back to their normal state.
The item I think would fit this idea best is golden carrots, because they like gold and, as PIGmen they definitely like carrots too.
The item choice for 'de-aggroing' is great, and I have had the exact problem you have had with multiplayer Pigmen too. I fully support this, and I am confused as to why this had no replies before me.
It could be a lingering potion maybe this intended item? (Yours is better but just came to mind for something that could fit otherwise besides a carrot)
Or you defeat a pigman leader and they never bother you again or something. Just an alternate idea, nothing I'd expect to get support more than the first one I mentioned to add on to yours.
While running away from the pigman that are aggro-ed can be achievable the game isn't always fair about this and knowing how far to get away or if they will stop when your far away/leave the nether it's always clear, and that one person in multiplayer can be annoying or if it's for farming something/farming pigman then even more so when it has need to them stopping to be agrro-ed but isn't the best when they go after other players.

In the 1.14.3 prereleases, the did make pigmen aggro less mean by other pigmen needing direct line of sight to also get mad (though it may get reverted), but nevertheless, I support to make it less possible for that one jerk to make the nether unusable at spawn.

People just need to be more careful around pigmen.
My suggestions: Enhancements - Throwable Fire Charges - On Phantoms and Elytra. Also check out The Minecraftian Language. This signature is not here to waste your space.

I wouldn't support this. I feel like it's a part of what makes them kind of cool.
Then maybe pigmen could only attack pthe player that attacked the pigmen? Really, people shouldbe careful around pigmen.
