its not really dangerous enough at day time (unless you harm spiders) so this is what i was thinking
quick sand
it would look like sand repeatedly falling (kinda like this video)
jungle mud
it would look like dirt but darker and watery
when you fall in or get close you will hear a plopy noise or a sucking noise as you get sucked in.when you go under you start to run out of air and die
sinkholes
it looks like a normal block but a tiny bit darker when you step on it or hit it you fall into a cave or you see the cave
I agree, a nice, special swirly-style animation would work better than glitch-like blocks falling and bouncing around. Quicksand and mud sounds good. Sink holes already exist naturally...

Sink Holes poping up naturally more and more in tropical biomes sounds okay for me.

Junglemud. Besides killing you what would it do? Is it a placeable block? What are it's properties?
Sinkholes occur naturally in Minecraft anyway due to weird formations with world generation.
