Javelins- Throwing spears.
Quote from Amoe1st »
Javelins are simple enough, and would act as a ranged weapon AND a melee weapon.
Here's what the crafting recipe would be. (again here, Green represents Sugar Canes/Bamboo)
[] []
[] []
[] []
So you'd have a lightweight (due to the hollow bamboo sticks) staff tipped with , much like an [>>-i>] . However, with this, you could, if you left click, hit in melee or if you right click, launch it as a ranged weapon (half the range of [>>-i>] , due to weight). I'd say that they should have some durability, since you can use them in melee, but be very brittle, like wood. Also, throwing them would destroy them on impact, wether it hits a monster, character, or nothing.
But these are slanted to make them better for stabbing than throwing. Since we have the spear for stabbing, the javelins would have a durability of 5 throws or 2 stabs per javelin. Can be stacked up to 16, but thrown only when unstacked. They could also be made out of sticks and ingots for increased durability;
, = 2x durability = 3x durability = 5x durability
Battle axe- Haven't you ever wanted to decapitate a zombie/skeleton? Well you can with this simple upgrade.
[]
[] []
or
[] [] []
[] []
Where = Axe(any durability above 50%)
Deals .5 more damage than sword but slows character down to sneaking speed when attacking. Warning: Using the lower method makes the battle axe out of the weaker material of the two axes.
Nethersword- Alright, this is my favorite idea, and only one person has attempted to make it. ]" title="-<->" /> = Bone
[] []
[] []
[] ]" title="-<->" /> []
This would do 7.5 hearts of damage, but have a low durability because of the bone handle. Would also make , , & always have the max drop(i.e. 2 feathers, arrows, etc.) Creation Tools
Sledgehammer- Alternative to pick, also weapon
[]
[] []
Makes ores drop 1-2 dusts instead of ore, also turns to with one hit, two hits collects it. Same speed as battle axe but also takes .5 seconds in between hits. It deals 1 heart more damage than a sword, so it's more of a hit-em-from-behind kind of tool. (Attacking with a sledgehammer cost double-durability)
Hammer and chisel- Used for sculpting
[] [] []
[] [] []
Where = , , or :Diamond:. The & are the hammer, and the is the chisel. Durability depends on type of chisel.

Naturally, clay could be used to make statues. Small statues could be made on the pottery wheel, and could range from creeper statues to obelisks to people. Larger statues would require you to place a clay block and then use a tool (H&C) on the block to access a new drop down menu of things you could craft, such as more people, tool replicas, pedestals, chickens, etc. Multiple clay blocks stacked on top of each other would allow you to make even larger statues, such as creepers, yourself, swords in stones, symbols, you name it.
By the way, how do you define flaming; As an example, if I say no to a suggestion with a reason; people still ***** that I'm flaming even though I was obviously polite. There needs to be an established threshold where one can know the difference between someone disagreeing and someone flaming.
All of your suggestions have been suggested to death as well. Kira has a great megathread devoted to weapons. The spear, javelin, and battle-axe have already been discussed there. They are also remarkably similar to your proposed weapons.
So you are making a suggestion, with all of somebody else's suggestions in it? Suggestions doesn't work that way. If the idea already exists you do not need to include somebody else's ideas/thread in your OP.
I like the javelin/spear idea, but I think that was suggested by Grey Acumen already as well, the owner of the thread you linked into your original post.
And for the chisel idea you...are linking somebody else's idea to your thread again? :/ Why not suggest your chisel idea onto Bladjian's thread to be added to his OP?
Your Battle axe idea was already suggested, it's just this one takes more resources and is a lot less effective or overall useful.
The Sledgehammer tool is for converting stone to Cobblestone, and converting ores into dust. Expand on the dust idea a little more? Are they new items or are you referring to redstone dust?
I don't like the idea of a spear. As Mucher has previously stated, each tool needs to be unique. All I see in the spear is a cross between a sword and a bow. Utterly useless to me.

Sorry for the ambiguous "No flaming" sign. Just meant no saying stuff like "your idea is total $#@!." Only wanted constructive criticism.

Duly noted, and Kira/Mineology I'm editing it per your suggestions because you're right. for being 'patient' with a new poster.

Ok the dust thing is that every ore block (excluding diamond) has a specific type of dust that it drops when hit by the sledgehammer, such as to gold dust, to coal dust, to iron dust. These dusts can then be smelted into , although smelting coal dust into coal is rather ridiculous. Maybe be a fuel by itself? This allows for increased material production rates. Also lapis and redstone drops unchanged.

The hammer thing seems to be the only thing I haven't seem a million times in other threads.
but I love it.
My favorite idea too.

Javelin by itself then? Because I could do without spears.
Thanks for the suggestions and comments. I'll try and get this updated as soon as I can.
1) I personally dislike the ideas in extended 2x2 crafting grid thread.
2) Give it advantages and some disadvanages. If its just a sword, theres no point.
3) Maybe. Javelins could be the same thing as spears in my opinion.
4) No. Its not balanced enough in my opinion.
5) Most hostile mobs have 10 hp. The diamond sword does 5 damage. This sword does 7.5 damage. It might as well be a diamond sword. As for it increasing drops from mobs, I am against that. This would be stronger then diamond swords are, and it would be much easier to obtain.
6) No. We dont need a new pickaxe.
7) I am indifferent about chisels. But it could easily be a waste of code.
Also, you said you only wanted constructive critisism. All critisism is constructive, even if it is flaming. Please keep that in mind in the future.

All right everyone, if we don't buy Lamborghinis for one day, the price will go way down and then we can all afford one. It's Economics!
Oh well. It's something along the line of "spear=sword+range".
