Minecraft has had biomes since Beta, but no way to change them. I like building, I'm working on a floating island map in a viod world but they're all one biome. Anyone else had experiences where you got stuck like this? Well... This is where the Biome Chaner comes in.
The Biome Changer recipe would be like this
Top Left = Acacia Sapling
Top = Spruce Sapling
Top Right = Dark Oak Sapling
Left = Birch Sapling
Middle = Tripwire Hook
Right = Jungle Sapling
Bottom Left = Red Mushroom, Brown Mushroom, Sea Grass, or Kelp
Bottom = Oak Sapling
Bottom Right = Any Tall Flower, Allium or Blue Orchid
The Biome Changer would be used as so. Right click on two corner, then do /"biomename" in the text bar. You could only put in the command after clicking both corners, and it wouldn't count as a cheat or command.
Overlapping Biomes would work as so, you would have to use something called a Biome Overlapper.
Recipe would be like so.
Middle = Biome Changer
All Other Grids = Grass Blocks (the block, not plant, and not dirt either)
Right clicking two corners of a 3d object (not actually there just the two corner peices) and doing the biome command would set a specific biome in that shape only. This would help builders tremendously building underground or sky places.
Final Touches
"/biome list" would show a page of biomes in the chat. If it doesn't fit do "/biome list 2" or "/biome list 3".
"/gamerule BiomeChanger false" would disable changing biomes and overalapping biomes, do true to re-enable it.

Hey guys I'm James, I used to be a noob but now I'm not, I finally figured out how to use TextCraft so here's a banner for one of my suggestions.
Something like this is so game changing (worse than the violations of long standing spawn rules by MobB), that it needs to have gained exceedingly widespread support as a mod before it should be considered for vanilla.
As noted the method of acheiving if far too cheap for the prize (there are exceedingly few reaources in MC that will work to raise the expense of an item meaningfully; 'could make on your first day' may by hyperbolic, but the proposed recipies require nothing not easily attainable with travel. [Even grass blocks are available without silk touch, which is not a particularly prohibitive enchantment.])
Assuming something like this was to be added, making the effect attainable via a 5th level beacon (current MC tops out at 4 levels) that could only be powered by the dragon egg [not consumed], effected only a minor area [possibly a 64 radius cylinder], and lasted only so long as the beacon pyramid remained intact… might (maybe) be a viable addition. [Even so, I'd still want to see this prototyped as a widely used mod before considering it for vanilla.]

WARNING: I have an extemely "grindy" playstyle; YMMV — if this doesn't seem fun to you, mine what you can from it & bin the rest.
yeah no, that would completely break gameplay and add extra unnecessary overhead to the world generator
No changes to the world generator are necessary; the game saves biomes as part of chunks (since 1.2.1) and changing existing biomes is as easy as changing the values in the biome array (0 = ocean, 1 = plains, 2 = desert, etc):
Biomes: May not exist. 256 entries of biome data, one for each vertical column in the chunk. See Java Edition data values#Biomes for biome IDs. If this tag does not exist it will be created and filled by Minecraft when the chunk is loaded and saved. If any values in this array correspond to an unknown biome, Minecraft will also set them to the biome that would normally generate in that location.
That said, "overlapping biomes" would require changes to the save format to enable a column to have more than one biome, which is unnecessarily complicated, and as others have said you shouldn't just be able to change biomes so easily in survival (I could see this as being useful for Creative/custom maps, especially given that the direction the game is heading in is to make it easier to customize without mods or external editors, which also break with updates so you have to stay behind or wait to use them. Either way, all this would change is the color of vegetation/water/sky, whether it rains/snows, and spawning of certain mobs, not change existing blocks to reflect the biome (you won't be able to just make a desert to get sand/desert temples (husks would spawn though), or a mushroom island to get mycelium (mooshrooms only spawn on mycelium so they wouldn't spawn).

If this would exist, it should be a Creative Mode only item or command.
Only needing some saplings, a random triphook, a flower, and a mushroom/ocean plant to change the biome is waaaay too OP, as that could 100% be done in the first hour.

Changing biomes in Survival mode with an easily craftable item that you could make on your first day? Yeah no.
No Supppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppport
My suggestions: Enhancements - Throwable Fire Charges - On Phantoms and Elytra. Also check out The Minecraftian Language. This signature is not here to waste your space.

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
A little thing for everyone, this is cosmetic, not to mention you need to go on a scavenger hunt for things.

Not only is this overpowered, but completely radical.
No Support Whatsoever
Based on how unpopular it is, there is no reason for this to be added.
I support a command that is only accessible with cheats to change biomes.
If this would exist, it should be a Creative Mode only item or command.
