I want furniture with function. Not only in a mod, but also in the actual game.
I understand the creativity argument, but i dont see the point having nearly unlimited possibilities in building, but not having nearly as good options in interior.
A chest is a furniture with function, you can put things in it, just as a crafting table-you can craft, what you normally cant without it.
You can sleep in a bed, not on the floor, and so on.
All these empty rooms with nothing in it, is boring.
I know there are hundreds mods that have these, but the game does not.
I agree completely. If nothing else give the game some forms of chairs, couches, and tables. The villages already “emulate” the feel, why not give them official furniture? You could put flower pots, bowls, food (imagine putting your chicken on a plate on the table!), torches to act as candles, rugs for placemats, or even just any other item on the table which would be considered “dropping it”, but it won’t despawn. For example, you have this iron you want to give to a friend and don’t want them rummaging around in your chests or something, or you have an item you intend to use very soon but not immediately. Set it on the table and it’ll never despawn!
Some of what is asked for can already be done (at least in a fashion) by placing an item into an item frame set on top of a block (as of 1.13).
The main argument against this (or similar) suggestions remains, however, that the inclusion of premade single block solutions decreases the impetous for player creativity.
Having this sort of thing available as mods (plural) allows those that want the functionality to add them (often in a preferred style) without anyone being burdened by overhead needed to include 'functional furnature' that is unwanted.
Assuming (per argumentum) that such features were added to vanilla, the question would immediately arise in what style the furniture should be made (Midieval, Renaissance, Napolionic, Art-deco, Mod (1960's american), futuristic, etc)...
Someone whose main interest was in 'interior decoration' might well want access to all, whereas many player would prefer the option of none.

WARNING: I have an extemely "grindy" playstyle; YMMV — if this doesn't seem fun to you, mine what you can from it & bin the rest.
