I think there should be dirt slabs and stairs because I would be able to build more detailed stuff like hills and sky islands. There would also be grass slabs and stairs. Grass would be able to spread to dirt slabs and stairs just like normal dirt. Also I would want coursed dirt slabs and stairs.
As the dirt digging fox I am, I've long wanted dirt slabs and stairs too for obvious reasons! But having grass variants would also be nice too coming to think of it, I'd love making dirt and grass steps in dirt hills and such! Podzol versions too as well, I love the look of podzol.

I rally like the idea of Course Dirt, Grass and Dirt slabs and stairs. I've been making a map in a void world about floating islands and this would help me soooo much. I think we should also have slabs and stairs for Podzol and Mycelium aswell, and Grass Path.

Hey guys I'm James, I used to be a noob but now I'm not, I finally figured out how to use TextCraft so here's a banner for one of my suggestions.
Even though it might look nice (I think that a stair with grass over it would be 10/10) it does not make any sense to me. I mean, the dirt with any other shape than a cube is... weird? I mean, is... dirt. I don't think that it would be such a logical decoration block.

It's a game with a huge building aspect. Why would adding more materials to build with be illogical?

Why not? If you could even use the shovel on a patch of grass stairs it would
make some nifty landscaping (smoother pathways to villages etc).
Though I'm not sure if the purists will consider it blocky/minecrafty enough.
People do have different tastes after all.
As for me... I don't mind having access to more building blocks.
So I'd be quite supportive to this idea... well I don't see much of a reason
to be against it to be honest.

This would be useful. (because people use dirt and grass all the time)
(So useful I suggested this years ago.)
Total support
I don't even play Minecraft much anymore yet here I am on the Minecraft forums for some reason...
I'm always down for more aesthetic options. Support.
Maybe dirt ramps versus dirt stairs? I think it’d make more sense than stairs, since it’d be weird to see dirt hold form like that. But I support!
I was thing this just the other day. Would be very helpful in terrain elevation. Support.
