So, It took me a while, but I thought to myself, "Yeah, Creepers are fine, even if they do spawn a little too often." Now, I also read through the Minewiki article saying the prefixes would be added. That got me wondering. So, this is something that can help make creepers all the more the bane of minecraft. Why settle for "cobblestone" or "Giant" creepers, when you can have something more interesting.
To that end, I give you the Creeper prefix guide.
#0: No Prefix: The usual creepers. No need to explain them.
#1: Poison: These creepers look like normal ones, except for their glowing green eyes. Instead of exploding like normal, they bursts into poison gas that causes damage equal to about half a heart each tick(Easy mod. Increase by one half each difficulty level). The gas lasts about five seconds and ticks every one second. Another thing to note about these creepers is that their gas IGNORES armor, so even if you're in full diamond, you're still going to take damage.
#2: Volatile: These creepers can be identified by their glowing red eyes and mouth. Their so volatile that they will explode almost instantly when they're in range(Almost. Maybe about half a second delay.) However, because of their glowing parts, they're easier to see in the dark. They also drop more sulfur then usual, though it's advised that you take them out from a distance.
#3: Dud. These creepers look like any other creeper. How do you tell them apart? Simple. They don't explode. Instead they simply hiss and sizzle out. It'll still scare the crap out of you, don't get me wrong. These creepers will also drop less surfer. Opposite of volatile.
#4:Cowardly: These creepers will turn tail and run away from you when they see you. Not particularly a good on, I admit. Another version of cowardly is that they will only chase you if you are facing away, and will stand still if you're looking at them. They still explode if you get too close.
That's what I have for now. Please feel free to discus and come up with your own prefixes. Just keep it interesting.
You know what would be cool? Giving creepers different skins in desert and snow biomes to help them blend in with the sand and snow.
The ideas in this topic are horrible though. Except for the first one.

"Minecraft? Realistic? Really? This is a game where you punch trees to get wood, you can make the wood into wooden planks in less than five seconds, and trees don't fall even if you remove a piece of the trunk from the middle. This is a game where animate corpses, giant spiders and exploding green terrorists emerge at night to hunt you down, farm animals run rampant across the countryside, and you can stop the flow of molten lava with a block of snow."

Would they do anything special? Does the snow one freeze things or the sand one do anything?
The reason I made this topic was to encourage more interesting ideas for prefixes, rather then boring ones that just change their color. Sure, you can have their color changed, but if they do the exact same thing then there's no point in my opinion. Besides, different colors are too obvious.
Furthermore, would you actually go into depth as to WHY you don't like it, rather then putting up random pictures like they're legit criticism?
The point of changing the colour is so that they blend in with the environment, thus enhancing their ability to creep.
I thought that this was all the Prefixes would be.
#5: The running away is pointless, but the Boo type one was interesting. But once you do see it, it's effectively dead. Maybe if it could hide/disguise itself upon being seen?
#4: Pointless. They shouldn't drop sulphur at all, lest we have an easy source of it.
#3: I'm not sure if the glowing eyes would do much, especially considering how much bright green sticks out, even outside if the environment is hilly enough (as the sides of hills have exposed dirt/stone, meaning they only blend in with the grass if you look at them from above).
#2: Seems like an even more annoying version of the creeper at first, but if you have food with you (as all well prepared miners should), this is untrue.
#1: HORIBEL!!!!!!!! [] [] [>>-i>] [] []
I don't generally support the idea of slightly altered mobs though. I think entirely unique ones would be better, or very slight ones, like the proposed differently camoflauged Creepers.
No, they're different types of creepers. Did you even read? Those are the PREFIXES, meaning they alter the appearance or behavior of the monster. In this case, the creepers. And further more, what's the point of my quote only being "Boring"? Care to actually explain yourself a bit?
As for ParadoxJuice, I suppose I was a bit unclear with #1. By normal, I mean it's a creeper without a prefix, thus, normal.
