Back in 2009 and 2010, Minecraft was hosted on an applet, which is basically a java game that runs from a jar file that sis stored in your temp directory. Using the wayback machine, and any other browser except Google Chrome (because of security restrictions), there are ways to get Minecraft running on an applet. These applets were hosted from 2009 to 2010, and were subsequently removed, and never brought back. Should Mojang decided to run applets again, or should Minecraft be kept as a standalone offline client?
