We all know that the illusioner was introduced in 1.12 but was never used for actual gameplay. Why Mojang doesn't use this illager in the raids? It would be a real boss fight, in my opinion.
No that I think about it, an illusioner would make a good boss battle. Maybe the last 'wave' would just be a illusioner and two pillagers. However, the illusioner needs an epic entrance to indicate that it's a boss.

Or it just kills you /us XD . Because it's an Illusioner, and its - entire - "Entrance (WHICH - Not Witch - Entrance-s)" is that it makes-you "Exit (Die)" from the moment you see (@.@ "death by Medusa" /on-sight) it (kind-of like the Ender Dragon, and Wither almost-as much ["Withering" Effect, takes more time]).
Still, I prefer that Pillager Outpost idea above: whether they Spawn - the Pillagers - a lot or a little, Illusioners would create their own; Issues. Or is that Illusions? "heh" (weakly while likely-dying).
So really not-sure if there should be Respawning - quickly - in the same place, of Illusioners. If so, where (would it be safe-enough to recover quickly-enough Without it involving RISKING, All the Villagers - for example - at the same time)?
I always thought illusioners would end up replacing evokers in the third floors of mansions, and that the only delay in adding them was because they couldn't think of something better than Totem of Undying. Personally, though, I find illusioners easier to kill than evokers. Both require your full attention, sure, but the evoker attacks a little faster and vexes long outlive either mob.
I once remade a mansion with nametagged illusioners, Johnny vindicators, etc. to see how gameplay with more illagers in mansions would be like. If you can take on an evoker alongside vindicators, normal hostile mobs, and possibly even a second evoker, an illusioner shouldn't be much different. You can even just play defensive with a shield the whole time.

The illusioner seems more mystic and doesn't really seem like it would fit raids.
I mean maybe not in raids, but illusioners in the pillager towers would be rly cool
