Introduction:
Welcome, lately i have been building a redstone computer, and while making it i felt that there were quite a few redstone blocks could be added to the game.
first, what everything means: = redstone wire = redstone torch
Redstone light
[] []
[] []
Usefull for making displays, it glows with a flat light, and it can be stacked ontop of eachother
Stackible redstone
[] [] []
[] []
[] []
basically, this works like a half brick, and can be used in junction with other half bricks.
pratical uses:
[] [] [] [] [] [] []
this allows us to have redstone flowing 1 block above eachother, reducing the need for huge buses and circuts.
it works just like normal redstone wire.
Vertical transmitter
[] [] []
[] []
[] []
Any input into this block will be sent 1 block upwards, since it is only 1 block high, it can be stacked, like so:
= transmitter = redstone
not much more explanation is needed.
intergrated circut workbench
This has been posted many times before, but ohwell, ill put my version here.
this requires multiple parts, then put together in a workbench
= iron block = glass = furnace
Magnifying glass
[] []
[] []
Stand:
Precision tool:
[] []
[] [] []
this can all be put together with the following formula:
magnifying glass =
Stand =
Precision tool =
Iron block =
[] []
this now comes up with a 8/8 crafting table, where you can place redstone and other things in the way you want.
might explain more later :smile.gif:
Anyway, thanks for reading, i will update this with new ideas as i get them, i will also add other peoples ideas to the OP
it should also have 12 layers, and be presented in 2.5 d. You could, of course, put ic's into other ic's, thereby giving it the ability to really condense some elements of redstone. You also could add more inputs/outputs or change them, but only the defaults would work in the real world, while others could only interact with other ic's in a chip. In theory, this means you could make a computer in only a few blocks.
My other suggestion is a sort of robot. It would need coal to run, and be crafted with a storage cart, a power cart, and an ic. It would be programed with the ic, and work kind of like bureau bureau of steam engineering, just with redstone and not steam. It could move (not on a track) and place or destroy blocks. This could make almost anything automatic. You could program auto diamond miners (it would suck if it ran into lava, though) auto farmers, or even auto builders. They might be able to communicate with each other or other blocks, but probably not.
=ic =storage cart =power cart
the diamond is there because otherwise it would be really over powered.

the UI would have a place to put lots and lots of coal, an area to see what is has collected, and one place to put a tool for it to use. For a farm bot, this would be a hoe. A battle bot would have a sword, flint, bow, etc. A mining bot would have a pick, a lumberjack bot an axe, and I suppose it could have a shovel. Placing blocks would be very simple. there would be an input to mine a block, and an input to place one. It would work on a first on last off stack, so as to make it easier to program and less overpowered. There would a an input for each of the wasd keys for moment as well. It would have to output some kind of sensory data, such as block/not block in front of it, to the sides, behind it. As for the actual programing of java that would be required, I think that each world could also save a catalog of ic's, so that only to id, rather than the whole ic would actually have to be stored in each block. That's just how I would do it. When notch makes ic's they will probably be very different. (if he does)
Very nice idea Mabye you should be able to make a ONE blokc timer for like 1-3 Mins And then sends a Pulse after the set time...
Just a suggestion :smile.gif:
(crafted lIke this) = redstone = Redstone reapeater
it works like ordinary redstone, except it has 2 lanes of data, ofcourse you will need to make a splitter, to break the redstone off into its single lane mode.
like this:
[] [] []
this way, you can have tighter redstone circuts.
also, maby even 3 lanes?

could be done like:

just some ideas, yeah...
Notch isn't here. Please leave a (last) message after the ssssSSSSSSSSSSS
