Me and my friend were discussing about what would be cool to add to Minecraft. We thought of how we could make air vehicles and larger boats. First off lets start with the air vehicles.
Cloth would be used to make a balloon looking probably like this:

And it then you could place this balloon anywhere on a block of any material but one's that are affected by gravity like sand, gravel, ect. Once placed it will seem like a sapling just "planted" to the material not really affecting anything. The reason for this is it need something in order to float....Helium. How could Helium be added to Minecraft you ask simple.
So making a glass jar in the game shouldn't be to hard right? right.

So helium will sometimes be released from coal it would be like every 1/20 blocks of coal would release a gas that could be collected by the jar. The gas will dissipate in a matter of 10 minutes. Fair enough?
With the jar of helium in hand right-clicking the balloon will make expand just like a with bone meal tree. Depending on how much blocks there are the balloon will lift up the materials. I was thinking that 20 blocks at maximum for one balloon and having more than one balloons could cause some problems I'm not really sure what, but if multiple balloons works out then that would be awesome. The balloon will not lift a ship that is still connected to ground, unless its sand, gravel, ect. Now of course their is the problem of how this airship will move forward. That's wear fans come in to play. Yes, it is kind of a silly idea, but that's all we could think of at the time. So a fan could be placed down and connected to levers or buttons with wires to be activated. The direction of where they face could be changed by right-clicking. and they would be made with steel and Redstone like so:
[] [] RS
[] []
RS=Redstone
Now what would happen if there was to much weight added to the ship while in air it would slowly float down, but if something blew up the balloon then the ship would crash down and once hitting the ground work break like a small boat hitting a rock to fast, the materials would all break down and scatter everywhere. You would not be able to get the balloon or helium back from a crash. Now of course adding this would need sky enemies and normally we would think of a new idea, but all we did was imagine what creepers with wings would be like....God save us.
So yeah that is my idea I do feel like I am forgetting some details so Please ask and suggest more to this idea.
Thank you and goodnight.

Helium is found from treating uranium-based rocks AND gathering coal mine gas.

Game of The Year, Every year
oh...sorry, didn't know.
Yeah pretty much. The original idea was a zeppelin.
I would normally tell you to use the search bar, but it isn't working right now. I feel so incomplete....
