It seems like villagers just mainly wonder from house to house, and often
times it just seems random. I think a there is some things that could
probably make villagers seem more alive:
Villagers should have a designated home
Villagers should have a home they go back to every night, there is a curfew range
for every villager. This means one villager won't start heading home
until 11PM and another villager likes to be home around 8PM. This means
villagers who do not go home early could go interact with other
villagers until they start heading home. Villagers may be housed with
other villagers (they might need to have a good interaction level,
explained below) as long as there is enough room; smaller houses can
only house a small number of villagers, while a larger home can house a
larger sum of villagers.
Village Friendships and Enemies
With villagers wanting to go to other villagers houses, there could be an
implementation in which two villagers have a scale of how much they like
one another from 1-10 (1 for dislike, 10 for like). A villager
relationship between 2 villagers could be a 9, meaning you would find
these two villagers most likely together and talking, or doing some
activity. A village relationship with a 1, you would rarely see these
villagers interacting with each other, going up from 1 increases the
likelihood of interaction.
Wolves & Dogs
We have had dogs in the game for so long and
its crazy dogs haven't gotten their recognition and long needed update.
Just some things that could be added:
There is currently only one breed of dog. If cats can get 9 new breeds then
maybe a couple of domesticated dog looks. Potentially separating the
wolf and the dog entirely like cats. Taming a wolf will give a random
chance for any of the breeds, or they will be in villages wandering
around. Potentially passive or aggressive towards cats (maybe even
befriending to make a pack).
There is a reason dogs are "mans best friend". I think dogs could have a
chance to be a companion to a random villager. They would follow this
villager around throughout the day, and attack any nearby threats. The
dogs could either protect all villagers or one specific villager. **This
could also apply to cats too.
