How many time did anyone else mess around with redstone, find out that they were off by a block, and need to restart the entire build? Well, alot to me, can't Mojang just add single blocks that: generate differently ticked clocks, randomize chance, or act as redstone repeaters without making the thing a tick off? I would appreciate it alot, it would make redstone machinery ALOT more compacted, thank you!
Assuming one accepts the use of command blocks, much along these lines can already be done.
Another argument against this type of proposal is that: while introducing clock_blocks (for example) would make many builds easier amd more compact, it would also remove a large part of the challenge.
Taken to an extreme, a similar argument could be made that high-end/late-game gear is tedious and/or difficult to obtain so Mending|Unbreaking3|Looting3|SweepingEdge3|Sharpness5 diamond swords should be common drops [from chickens if one really wants to push the limits ].
The obvious rejoinder to the above is the Observer (which compressed a BUD-like functionality into a single block). In this case, however, the functionality (detect certain changes in the world state) is much more low level than clocks or RNGs.
