If my ornithopter idea or if an airship idea were added, would they be intelligent enough to use them? What about using dispensers?
I would like to be able to try to translate language with them. Don't do something stupid like "Talk to them 30 times to teach them English". That is dumb. I like the idea that Yoshi said.
Make it so that you would put a sign on a log, saying "log". They then change their word for "log" to the word you put on the sign, after examining it for a while.
Seriously, please ask someone in Mapping and Modding to make this a Mod, im BEGGING you.
I don't think I know anybody from mapping and modding :/

No they would speak english. There would be no reason to have them speak a different language.

I think it would be easier just to have them speak english.

Anyway, I support.

I have a suggestion: Make it so that pigmen will spawn randomly upon world generation, and when they run into another pigmen, they will start making a small town.Pigmen would spawn near other pigmen, so the towns will grow. After the town reaches a certain size, the pigmen will change their clothing color to a certain color, and all pigmen in that "village" will have the same color. If a neutral pigman sees pigmen with colored clothing, he/she will adopt their colors. If a neutral pigman does not find a pigman village, and runs into a regular pigman, they will make a town together.
Now, since the pigmen don't change their clothing color until town reaches a certain size, a neutral pigman town can merge with a colored pigman town. This prevents towns from getting too close together. Different colored pigmen could also attack each other, which further prevents towns from getting too close together.
Sound good? The most important thing in there in my opinion is the part about making pigmen spawn where other pigmen are.
Also here is an Idea.. If you help them they will help you kill mobs! And if you hit a pig and kill it they will be mad... REALLY REALLY MAD!
I don't know. Would you go on a bloodthirsty rampage if you saw a monkey be killed?

It sounds a little overly-complicated for Minecraft. It's a good idea, but I don't think it'd work as much as you'd want it to.
Also, I think it would be best if the Pigmen and women spawn with the town and if all are killed, the town's forever empty.

I imagined that when you added a nether portal to pigman villages, they all scream, grab their heads, look up and then blood sprays as they morph into zombie pigmen.
They would start screaming then attack everything in sight while catching fire.

I think they need their own language (Piginese?) Because it would be more real..
Let's take an example; You land on a island that is inhabited by locals however they have their own language that is not written from where you are from.. And it would be close to impossible to talk to them.. However you find a book that you can use to talk to them like a translating book.. If you talk to them in your own language they might even attack if they think "Hello" means "Your mother is fat"
Or, they could speak in Pig Latin.
ex: Hello = ellohay (move first letter to last spot, add -ay)

This sounds like a good idea, Ike.
I support, but this seems like it could get annoying if a lot of pig villages form.
Maybe they could be as rare as pumpkins or 1.5 as rare or something.
That way, they would be findable, but not common.
Nice, I think adding this would be a LOT of extra work for Notch. We might have to wait a while on this one; but either way I like it! Have it so running into pigmen and their homes are really rare (but not to rare! ). I would be tickled pink to find a 200x200 block city of pigmen. Just have two things I want you to know.
1) I think having any conversations with in The Game would mess or change the "setting" (or "feeling") of Minecraft. Just like adding oceans to Minecraft, it becomes Ocean-Craft (not saying I don't like the idea but one may or may not be changing the original idea (I would have no idea if it would or not, I am not Notch nor have I asked him))
How I feel about adding conversation? 50-50% I'd have to see and play with it a bit to make an educated decision.
2) Have you checked out Welcome to Pigmen´s village! ? If you (owner of thread and reader alike) have not read at it, I suggest at less have a look. Tell me what you think, PM if you like or post right on to link above or this thread too (duh!).
i like this idea though i think after you are wanted in the tows there should be some way to redeem yourself, like if you lit there campfire, or give them something of value

Ah, thank you. Also, the conversations would be light. To get good things from the pigmen, you'd already have to have good things.
And pigmen villages would be extremely rare.
As rare as coming across a dungeon while mining down.

Possible revision
Maybe give them a leader of sorts? Or markings to distinguish different villages from eachother?

Soon enough, you'd have this sprawling community. You could also have some Pigs to help mine with you, maybe even be guards.
