We all know what ants are. They're small, black/brown, have six legs, follow a eusocial social structure and can carry things several times their own weight. Ants in Minecraft would be more or less the same thing. Ants would be very VERY small, about the size of a water splash particle, with the ability to climb up walls. This means that they're difficult to notice. They're also very weak, and can be killed by merely walking on them. Ants cannot attack you, but they do have one little thing that might make them annoying. They will look for dropped food items (pork, bread, cake, mushrooms, etc.) and will carry them to their spawning point, an Anthill block. The anthill is the same shape as a stone slab and will uncommonly spawn on dirt and grass blocks. It will spawn a scouting team of about four ants every ten seconds. Anthills can be destroyed very easily, they take slightly longer to destroy than a dirt block but only drop dirt and some seeds.
Another thing to note is that ants can raid unprotected chests and eat cake left outside. Be sure to keep your food storage inside your base, and keep the door closed! There could also be a hostile variation, the Fire Ant, which is red, hunts in groups of six and will attack you by clinging onto you, dealing half-a-heart every four seconds (time varies depending on how many are attacking you) until you shake them off by jumping around. You can also **** them off by walking on their anthill, but this is not advised for obvious reasons.
So how is it? Do any details need changing?

"Minecraft? Realistic? Really? This is a game where you punch trees to get wood, you can make the wood into wooden planks in less than five seconds, and trees don't fall even if you remove a piece of the trunk from the middle. This is a game where animate corpses, giant spiders and exploding green terrorists emerge at night to hunt you down, farm animals run rampant across the countryside, and you can stop the flow of molten lava with a block of snow."
They can't go under or through doors. That's why I said "keep your doors closed."

Odd, but I could live with that. I say sure, could be an interesting factor in the game. Possibly make it so ants can take down neutral mobs if enough of them gather on the animal? So for example, killing a pig and dragging its pork away.
It's possible. There could even be another variant mob, the ARMY ANTS, WHO COVER THE GROUND IN A MASSIVE BLANKET OF ANTS, DEVOURING ALL IN THEIR PATH!
Just think of it as a big black sheet moving around on blocks, picking up entire mobs and bringing them into their anthills.
