The Meaning of Life, the Universe, and Everything.
Right now deserts are extremely boring, and basically impossible to live in. I know you wouldn't be thriving in a desert in real life, but maybe just a few more things to spice it up? first off i would have to mention food. Food is scarce in the desert, but certainly does exist. Prickly pears, they would basically be a pink cactus that can grow on top of a cactus that is 1 block tall. Now to the mobs cuz items r boring sometimes. Coyote
Attack damage: Easy: 3, Normal: 4, Hard: 5
about the same size as the wolf and the same looks but like a more sandy color for camoflouge.
It can be fed for a one day truce from the pack. If you have meat in your hand you can be spotted from 20 blocks away instead of 16. They spawn in packs which can be up to 6 coyotes, a pack will not spawn within 20 chunks from another pack. If two packs meet they can fight. Vulture
Attack damage: Easy: passive Normal: passive Hard: 3
slightly smaller than the phantom, it flies around and sometimes swoops down on rabbits. Drops a feather on death. Camels Health: 35
Attack damage: easy: passive, normal: 4, hard: 6 (only attacks if provoked)
The camel is 1 block taller than the horse, it tackles and bites when provoked, and on rare occasions it will pick you up and drop you.
it is only slightly slower than a horse, and can carry a chest. They drop leather on death. Tumbleweed Health: 3
It is a simple mob with no personality or anything, it just rolls around and drops 2 sticks on death, its more of a block than a mob, but it moves so i would consider it an entity. A full tumbleweed can be harvested with silk touch and placed anywhere. Mind Scorpion Health: 5
Attack damage: easy: 2 normal: 4 hard: 5
This mob can be found in the desert just hanging around doing random stuff. It will notice you from a distance of 10 blocks. If it stings you, you get the effect Insanity for 3 minutes. insanity changes blocks around you, summons mobs, and messes with your inventory sometimes. Example: You got stung while your food bar was really low. you start seeing food items in your inventory, but when you click on them or try to eat them, they disappear. You look around and all the cacti have prickly pears growing on them. Some prickly pears act like bedrock, while others just disappear when you try to touch them. If you got stung underground, random blocks would start turning into ores, but if you mine them you get cobblestone. If you get stung when your health is 3 hearts or less, you might start seeing health potions, or really strong monsters. If you kill the Mind Scorpion you get a scorpion tail, which can be used to make an insanity potion. The Mind Scorpion is 2 blocks long, 1 block tall (including the tail, 2 blocks), and 1.5 blocks wide.
Another use for the scorpion tail would be to craft the Scorpion trap, which requires 1 scorpion tail, 1 tripwire hook, and 1 redstone in any shape.
The Scorpion trap can be placed on walls and on the floor, it looks like a tripwire hook with the end of a scorpion tail through it. If you touch it the scorpion tail fully extends and attacks the player, the first time it is used it gives insanity for 2 minutes, the second 1 minute, the 3rd 30 minutes, and after that it just damages them.
