Nah, not feeling it. Only Stars and no planets? Come on...
Also, I believe Supernovas are brighter than normal Novas, making them easier to detect. Which means the iron telescope should see the Supernova, not the other way around.
Plus, as addressed before, it's waste of Diamond. Add some more functions to that crap that falls from the sky, why don't you? Actually, "falling from the sky"? Really? You know stars are Billions, no, Trillions of miles away, right? You know how long it would take for that stuff to fall down?
Add planets, Nebulae, Star Clusters, Neutron Stars, Red Giants, Hyper Giants, and plain ol' Galaxies, and I'll come back. If you supposedly "Know" Astronomy, you'd know what all of those were. And don't even think about hitting up that Google, bro. :wink.gif:

This topic is in its first stage, as you see in the LARGE AND BOLD SENTENCE more stuff will be added, as in the possibilities of all your suggestions. Let alone the fact of my average mistakes of forgetting to tell you about the person im studying, let alone how I forgot how stars are in another galaxy, (The Suns in here, I know that.) But am I really just going to wait millions of years to make the only craftable thing, a torch so far? No.
Planets, no. Lets not go there.
Noone went to space until 1960. Let alone planets. Noone has yet, as far as im concerned.
Also, as adressed, Diamond is practically useless if you hve 5-6 stone Pick axes/Shovels/etc...
And plus, just letting Minecraft just have a whole other world that will take up another 8x the face of the earth type then....Well, lets just say Minecraft will crash, and congradulations, your computer dies.
I just want to add a little touch, and if Notch likes it, add more onto it?
Alright, you want my opinion? It's a bloody waste of diamond, that's what. Why would I need to look at the stars?
Now a spy-glass I could get behind.
You could of just said that in the first place, anyways.........
Stars could possibly add new things in, if thought out a little bit more.
I only had enough time for this thread, improvements, done.
Do you see, sir, that this is still being updated?
Do you not see the fact that this idea could be useful?
Do you see the fact that my suggestion is not modern?
Do you not UNDERSTAND the fact that you could of stated your opinion earlier, then me having to go into the exterior details of my person of study? Do you not SEE that if you hadnt started going into detail all over this, THIS STATEMENT, RIGHT HERE, WOULD NOT OF HAPPENED!?
I would like this suggestion, but only if the Stardust had other uses as well, such as a staff of magic. If you say anything about it already being posted or, “WHat is this Magic you speak of?” Or anything like that, remember this: There’s magical red dust that creates electricity, and giant green penises that roam the night with zombies and skeletons. AKA: It’s not real life.

I know its not real life.
But magic is just kind of.....Illogical in my terms.
Stardust suggestions....
Perhaps a transparent glass block?
It would give off a nice shine for a few blocks, and decorative? No?
A staff seems nice, but perhaps have powers like the summoning of mobs, dependent on switch?
Crafting:

Where the Diamond is Stardust, and the furnace is a switch,
[] []
[] [>>-i>] []
This creates a switch, and can create a switch like this from any mob drop. The mushroom is RedStone Dust.
So pretty much, this switch on the staff can summon Creepers, Pigs, Sheep, and Skeletons.
Also, maybe putting Stardust in a bucket, then in a furnace will create a yellow acid-like substance?
It has the same effects as lava, and even if you get out, youll have to deal with radiation.

So your saying that you're willing to throw away all your diamonds into a pool of lava, and not give a rat's ass about it? Alright then, do it, if they're so "useless".
And when I was saying planets, I didn't mean a whole new world. Do you even know who Nostradamus is? He was an Astrologist that made predictions. You know what Astrologists do? They look at Stars and PLANETS to see the future. Don't want to put in planets? Change your title.
Plus, your so-called "Stardust" is a dramatized glowstone dust. Allow glowstone to be put on torches, and boom: "Stardust"
I never said there wouldnt be planets, just not planets you WALK ON. If you want to, take it to Starcraft. Not here. You could look at planets, of course, and I know Nostradamas made predictions, like in 2012 the Sun rises with the Milky way. Let me expand, will you?
No, that's not how suggestions work. You start from the question 'WHY <space telescopes>?'. Then, if you can come up with a good reason for it, you flesh out your suggestion and explain it in-depth. If you can't come up with a GOOD reason, you don't post it.
Here, you reason for space telescopes is 'so you can see some things which have no effect on the game, but you can't normally see them so it's cool'. Nobody is going to waste resources just to look, say 'oh, that's a pretty texture', and then let their telescope gather dust in a chest for the rest of their game time.
If you can come up with some more practical reasons for making one, then put them in your first post. So far all I've seen you say to people who've rightly criticised this idea is 'but I will come up with some better stuff! stop criticising me!'. Stop saying it, and do it. Or admit this is a failed suggestion.
Spyglasses serve a practical purpose - they let the player see distant terrain/objects/mobs more clearly.
I never said "Stop critisising me:, I just pointed out the fact that people are too ignorant to see the point in a thread. Iwould of fleshed it out, but it is very late where I am, my brain is settling in.
I can come up witha good reason for space view. It can create the most dazzling effects on your mind, and pwrhaps even cause people to change the ay they Mine and Craft.
Ok, maybe not change the way the Mine...or Craft, but trust me, ill come up with thousands of ideas when I wake up in the morning,
Point 1) Not everything in Minecraft needs a reason outside of aesthetics.
Point 2) Stargazing isn't unnecessary though I can certainly say the uses are limited.
Point 3) Creating a new item from observed dying stars is intriguing though not completely solidly reasoned.
For any reason to stargaze above, aesthetics and stargazing is enough reason to sell me. Than again, I am very much an aesthetic player. Consider it a slight OCD.

Hmmm, maybe the staff would only attract passive mobs,(Still not Spiders, even in daylight,) for they are attracted to the light.
TOTALLY POINTLESS why do you wanna se a supernova when u can build stuff in redstone!!!
WASTE OF DIAMOND is more important
( END )
My god, get a brain. You run around like this,
"OGM, IT DOZNT HAS REEEEDDDDSTOOOONEEEEE ITS NOT IMPRTANTZ BECAZ IM AN AWEZUM REDSTONNERRRR"
And, I said im UPDATING the thread, hear it, UPDATING the thread, as you can see in LARGE AND BOLD, ASE THERE WILL BE MORE USES FOR THE TELESCOPE.
Point 1) Not everything in Minecraft needs a reason outside of aesthetics.
No, I agree, a lot of the blocks we have are pure aesthetics, and work just fine. That said, they're all there in the game world, around you. If you carpet your hallway in blue, it's there to enjoy every time you pass by; every purely aesthetic item thus far is something we can use to improve our constructions.
For stargazing to be worth it on a purely aesthetic basis, it'd have to be something really special. Nobody is going to want to waste diamonds etc. on an item just to look at a few larger pixelly square stars. And again, unless there was some practical reason to do so, nobody is going to do it more than once.

In its current proposed form I think it is pretty unnecessary. With a broader range of ideas (constellations for navigation? lunar cycles? watching falling meteors to see where they land? these are just some very vague ideas off the top of my head, to spark brainstorming) it could start to gain some purpose and become both interesting and worthwhile.
The idea of items falling from stars ONLY WHEN YOU LOOK AT THEM is completely bizarre. Collapse the wave function!
I added more ideas, you know.
They could be more useful than others, and im still working on expanding the ideas more. I need time to think, Ok?
I also need to work on the ideas of stars exploding only when you look at them, but you need a telescope to see the Stars, so...... You would have random debris from stars landing and you wouldnt understand why.
Edit:
I know that not logically you need to have a telescope for a Star or planet to explode, or for disasters, but for some people, they wont know what hit them.

Waste? Not really.
If you want a waste, go tell Notch about the "Golden Apple"
A spyglass could be an addition.
