I watched two videos on you tube by a creator named stealth. And it got my gears turning again. I already posted about a calvary update, but I have ideas for cave and sky updates as well.
For the sky update, I would suggest birds. In Minecraft there are chickens, and parrots. That is it. I would love to hear something other than bleating sheep, moo-ing cows, snorting pigs, clucking chickens or well... my footsteps. Mojang has shown the capability to have thousands of fish. How about hundreds of birds? Birdsong and raven croaks would be amazing to hear on my explorations. And the u ique color combinations for the birds would be nice to look at as well. Another update I would suggest for the sky update, is wind. Yes. Wind. The soft whooshing sound of wind coupled with the crinkly sway of leaves would also be welcomed. Even if infrequent. There are already examples of motion blocks in Minecraft, the swaying seagrass is one example. So to have leaf blocks sway when wind blows by would be nice as well. With wind also comes cool little things called dust devils. Those would be awesome to see in desert and mesa biomes. Super rare events such as sandstorms in desert and mesa biomes, or tornadoes in plains biomes, both only a rare possibility in their reapective biomes during a thunderstorm, would also be cool. Yes. I am aware the memory consumption and graphics requirments that may be required for such things, and yes, I know there are mods for that stuff on Java. But again, as I stated in my other post...i am relegated to console right now. PS4 to be exact. So if that stuff was in vanilla minecraft across all the platforms, that would be cool. Chances are the RAM and other requirements for the proposed sky update would probably destroy/crash console versions. But its worth a shot no?
Now. For the cave update ideas, I will leave a link to Stelath's channel...hopefully I can do that...it has been a long time since I read the rules...please dont ban me...anyway.
At 2:02 roughly...he talks about a tweet with a screenshot. It shows various ore possibilities for a cave update and invites you to #caveupdate or something like that as well. What those ores look like to me are salt peter, copper, uranium, what honestly just looks like gold to me, followed by what could be ruby, onyx, and amethyst. I may have missed one...I cant remember. It also shows what looks like copper wire. Now. The things that these can be used for got me pretty excited and hopeful.
Salt peter for example, could be used with coal to make gunpowder. A nice alternative to creeper and ghast hunting. This could also be used to make DET-Cord. Or in other words...a fuse. You could use it as a disposable...well fuse, for tnt. Make a line of salt peter leading to TNT, and have fire follow only the Salt peter. Copper and copper wire could be used in complex mechanical devices, maybe even used to make batteries. Honestly....I am curious to see what ideas they would have for copper, as we already have redstone..I at the moment (0510 my time...with an hour of sleep) cant think of much...but I am sure there is something. The next block that I said looks to be just gold...could be bronze or even silver. Silver would also be used in complex mechanisms, and maybe as a rare ore to use against a new mob...werewolves anyone? That would be cool...silver bullets. Need silver ingots...and gun powder...or something. Add firearms to the game. Although...we would need stronger enemies and mobs if they did to balance it out. Uranium, that could be used for maybe rockets for a potential future space update, power plants, alternative furnace fuel at the cost of debuffs such as poison or lingering potion of harming. Unless you have a rad suit. It could also be used as a TNT enhancer. Bigger explosion and damage, but with long lasting lingering debuffs after usage. That would be cool. Ruby could be used as a more rare form of emerald, perhaps a ruby is equal to 5 emeralds, or vice versa, emeralds as a more rare form of rubies thus more worth; perhaps used for powerful enchantments. And then that leaves Onyx and amethyst. Those could be used in an enchanting table to help get stronger enchantment, perhaps even have unique enchantments tied to them, maybe also used as a power source or a component to advanced mechanisms, the possibilities are intriguing. And I am sure to think about all the possibilities all of these ores could have.
Air update: birds (new mobs and ambient noise), wind (ambient noise), blowing leaves (motion texture similar to sea grass, as well as rustling leaves as ambient noise), dust devils, ultra rare sandstorms (desert and mesa biomes), ultra rare tornadoes in plains biomes. Both have a rare chance of manifesting, but only during a thunderstorm...
Cave update: Salt peter (used as a fuse for TNT, or in conjunction with coal to make gunpowder), copper, copper wire and copper blocks (for complex mechanisms), uranium (ultra rare power source, debuffs such as poison, weakness, harming unless wearing a rad suit, TNT enhancer, also resulting in "Lingering" debuff effects), silver (used for complex mechanisms, as a weapon against the new werewolf mob), Ruby (new currency, stronger enchantment), and finally, Onyx and Amethyst (each having new and unique enchantments for armor or weapons, power source, used to make existing enchantments stronger).
