I just happened to notice something about Minecraft and come up with an interesting but complex dimension design
For one thing, you may have noticed that all of the dimensions have an "element" and a mascot-boss. The Nether is obviously fire, and probably either the Wither or Wither Skeleton, the End is air, (read the wiki page about the Sky Dimension here), and the mascot-boss is probably the Enderdragon (Ender dragon? Enderdragon? enderDragon?) or Endermen, and the Overworld is grass with the boss being YOU. Or zombies. Anyway, the point is, each dimension has a... certainty about it that shows what element it is. And three elements out of four are there - water is missing. Even with the Aquatic Update, the ocean still lacks an isolation to it that would create a more "Oooh! It's all mysterious and dimension!" feel. Thus, I arrive at my conclusion: Minecraft should have a new dimension.
For me, who has gone to the End a dozen times (only in Creative!), I find myself wishing there was a more challenging dimension that involved a more-than-aesthetic use for the Dragon Egg. So, here is a design-idea:
After defeating an Elder Guardian, it will drop a Prism Pearl, which can be combined with seven other prismarine shards and one conduit to create an Atlanta Portal. Atlanta is a city shaped like a pyramid and surrounded by water. Atlanta is made up of Clear Glass, which has no border and tints vision blue, slightly. It has blue and green and cyan items everywhere, but at the end of Atlanta there is a well that looks like a desert well, only made of Prismarine and Clear Water (like clear glass). Atlanta is in a state of decay, holes in the ceiling, but the general layout is like someone smushed several villages together and turned them into prismarine. Entering the well at the far end will lead you into a Mirror Maze, which is made up of blocks that look like glass panes/blocks and reflect you or other blocks in sight of them. Eventually, you will find the end, and you will have to confront the Sea Serpent - a terrifying beast that looks like water until it lunges out of the murky pool it hides in and snaps at you. Spectral arrows are particularly useful here. If you defeat it, it will suddenly lunge out of the water and freeze with its mouth open, letting a deadly laser out of its mouth that creates a path through the labyrinth and heals Atlanta, spawning Villagers (but Atlantean Villagers) that dress in blue and green and have blue skin. They breather underwater and have a swimming animation. The Sea Serpent drops an Eye Prism, which grants you better underwater vision and the ability to zoom in on any object (press and hold z).
And maybe combining the Nether Star, Dragon Egg, and Eye Prism you will get a new portal to a new dimension?
Thanks for the feedback I purposely named the dimension after Atlantis, but hey... It's only a suggestion anyway!
In answer to your points:
"or break thru" -The mirrors have the same resistance as obsidian. AND would therefore take a while to break. Also, maybe they are infested by pufferfish? Kinda like breaking through a stronghold with an iron pickaxe.
"Just go to the End in Survival" -I'm terrible at Survival mode and am too lazy to work up enough skills.
-Would you PLEASE read the whole paragraph before responding to each individual point?!
"a deadly healing laser" -Yes, it's deadly TO YOU. And blocks. But it starts a "oooh! Healing!" animation. (Also, I'm a girl.)
"what is the difference in villagers" - They trade better stuff for cheaper prices.
"what dimension" A completely new and different dimension that isn't described here, containing a final refuge or boss.
(I'm a noob!) Apologies, that's how I write all the time. Detail:
The sea serpent waits inside a still pool. It is the colour of swamp water, and so is the pool. If a player or passive mob comes within 10 blocks, the sea serpent will perform a "bite attack" - it will suddenly lunge out of the water and turn dark blue. If a player is caught by its head, it will shake the player and then throw them up, causing major damage. If not, it will turn its head and then freeze and shoot a laser out of its mouth in the direction of the player. Then, it will pause for a moment before turning brown and heading underwater. Its health bar is labelled "Serpent". It cannot heal like the Enderdragon and Wither, but its attacks are stronger.
How to beat:
1. Drink a potion of Invisibility/Swiftness/Slow Falling
2. Load your bow with spectral arrows
3. When it begins lunging, DODGE the attack and shoot it with your bow.
4. Switch to meelee
5. Attack it! It's about 10 blocks long, and the pool is 20 x 20 x 5 blocks. (X-Z-Y). The "Glowing" status effect will outline it, even in the murky water, and you can attack it for ten seconds before it tries again. (It's a snake and can move around inside the pool.)
Thanks for the feedback, simply because this is my first post...
