We all know that slimes are cool and we all know Slimeballs are useless but here are my ideas.
First of all Slimeballs should be launchable (I'm probably not the first to think of this) and when they hit a mob they have the same chance as an egg for a chicken to spawn a small slime (Also not the first) But they should also slow down/stop mobs for a period of time. But of course, It won't work on slimes.
The other thing is that 4 or 9 slimeballs crafted into a square will make a block of slime. This would act similar to Soul Sand and slow enemies down but will also absorb some fall damage (depending on how many layers of it you have and how high you're falling from)
