I'm new here and just purchased the game yesterday. It is extremely addictive.
I spent some time looking through the forums today and there is a hell of a lot of information.
What I wanted to do was ask a few questions relating to playing a single player or hosting a multiplayer game that is an RPG type game.
1. Is there any plans to implement a leveling type process for a character? For example perhaps you start with only 3 life and as you accomplish objectives, or slay monsters you gain expereince. Once you achieve the next level of advancement you may get a 4th life counter. Similar to how a player's HPs go up when you level in D&D.
2. Is there a way to disable the ability to dig, chop down, or otherwise make changes to the map for the players? I'm thinking something along the lines of being able to dig/mine, or cut wood, but only in specific areas. This way the server op (multiplayer games) won't have to worry about players cutting down buildings, or digging straight through dungeons, mountains, etc...
3. Is there any new monsters for a RPG type game of Minecraft?
4. Finally, is there a way to have a random world map created but the world is completely, or mostly below ground? I'm thinking along the lines of Undermountain by D&D or Moria as in Lord of the Rings.
Well, thats all for now. I am extremely addicted to this dang game already. I'm off to play some more.
Damn! I thought I put this in the Discussions thread. I did not mean to put it in suggestions. Can an op move this, or should I delete it and repost in Discussions? Let me know and sorry for the mistake.
1) Many people dont like the concept of turning minecraft into an RPG. The leveling system wouldn't really work, as it would confuse/annoy people. Instead of how high your level is in a game (Which pretty much determines if you win or lose in a fight) Minecraft is more of a skill based game. (The player's skill, not the minecraft guy's skill.) If you want a RPG, there are many RP servers out there.
2) I believe there are mods for that.
3) I think Notch said he would add dragons.
4) I believe there are mods for that.
