I've been playing Minecraft for awhile and I think something that I've always thought would be neat would be to have more dirt building blocks, like dirt stairs and slabs. And just like the regular dirt blocks in the game, grass would spread onto them over time, changing them into grass stairs or slabs. The spreading would also be the same with mycelium blocks. I'm not saying they should be naturally occuring blocks but just blocks that you can craft on your own to use for building.
Having dirt stairs and slabs would be great for anyone who builds (especially in survival worlds). They'd be very useful if a player builds their house on a mountain, and doesn't want to use other stairs that could clash with the surroundings. Being able to use the dirt stairs or slabs would make it look more natural outside of their home if that's what the player wishes to have.

It would be weird to make grass and dirt into stairs and slabs. What if instead add mud, then in a crafting table putting dirt and a water bucket give mud then you can smelt mud to hardened mud and that would be used to make hardened mud stairs and slabs because they would have more structure being hardened. The texture can be a little darker than normal dirt and look a little more solid.

No offense, but dirt stairs look ugly
Dirt slabs looks nicer but still kinda....out of place
