Let's be honest, the Nether is a bit lackluster at best. So, what better way to spice things up then a new boss? The Pyrotuethis (pronounced Pi-ROH-too-these) is a World boss that spawns in the Lava lakes of the nether
APPEARANCE:
the Pyroteuthis is a Giant squid, more more "Realistic" compared to the overworld squids. The body is 7 blocks long and split into 3 sections, each slightly smaller than the last, along with a thin rectangular fin on top, with the main segments having two large, yellow eyes on both sides. the Pyro- let's just call it Fire Squid for now, has 8 tentacles which are 5 blocks long and split into 2 segments, and 2 "arms" which are basically 14 block long tentacles with small pads at the end, and these are split into 5 parts. I would draw a picture to demonstrate, but A. I can't draw, and B. MS paint's canvas is too small.
WILD BEHAVIOR:
when in the wild, the Pyroteuthis will swim near shore and shoot balls of magma at Zombie pigmen and Magma cubes.
COMBAT:
The Pyroteuthis has 300 HP and 3 stages. The first stage it will turn upside down, so that its mouth is facing towards the sky, and procede to launch exploding fireballs towards the player like a living Morter. I would give a specific damage here, but one thing I've come to accept is that, due to Minecraft dealing with relatively low numbers when it comes to health, is VERY hard to balance for damage wise. It's very easy for 1 number to sound to low, while raising it by one sounds too high. Anyways, let's just say these fireballs deal about as much damage as a zombie plus afterburn. The Pyroteuthis will launch these fireballs in volleys of 3 before needing to recharge, which is when it's easiest to shoot.
The second stage occurs when the Pyroteuthis reaches 200 HP, when this happens, the Fire Squid will point right side up, shake for a moment, then launch out of the lava like a Rocket or mortar towards wherever the player is, creating a shockwave of fire around wherever it lands. It will then repeat this process, trying to constantly crush the player.
And finally, once it reaches stage 4 it goes berserk, swinging from block to block with its arms, along with trying to grab and throw the player. In order to attack it without making yourself vulnerable, you have to wait for it to launch itself at you like a missile, afterwards it will be stunned so you can get a few hits off. Once the Pyroteuthis' HP reaches 0, it will start flashing like a creeper, before launching itself towards you and Exploding on impact for heavy damage.
DROPS:
The Pyroteuthis has 3 drops, each with a 1/3 chance of dropping.
The first is a "burning sack" which can be combined with obsidian and gold like you'll see in this spoiler to create a "magma crossbow" (if someone can come up with a better name, please do). When you click and hold this weapon, it will use a magma cream to charge up and shoot a fireball that explodes for AOE and burn damage, but doesn't destroy blocks. The range is slightly less than a bow and obviously the ammo is more expensive, making it an alternative rather than a replacement.
Redwool=Burning sack
The second item it can drop is 1-2 "Squid eyes" which can be placed like heads and emit a redstone signal when the player makes eye contact with them. this can be used to make doors that only require you to look at the eye to open them.
The third and final item they can drop is a "Pyroteuthis arm" which functions as a...
...though it doesn't work quite like that, When you have the squid arm in your hand you can press right click to throw one end of the tentacle up to 14 blocks away, and then if it hits a block, it "anchor" you to that block, allowing you to either climb up it with left click, go down with shift, or jump off with space, which also keeps your momentum. For example, let's say I'm caving and I come across a ravine. I could build a bridge across and risk getting shot off, or I could take my tentacle, get a running start, throw it at the roof of the cave, then swing across Indiana Jones style. I addition, It has a short cooldown between uses, but you can put a second tentacle in your offhand and use that one when the first is on cooldown, that way you can go full on spider, er, Squid man with them. (but seriously, if something like this was added, I would be upset if someone DIDN'T make a custom map where the tentacles were re-textured to webs and you slung around the course).
So yeah, that's just an idea I had I wanted to suggest, and I will happily take feedback, for both the idea and my Grammar.
This does sound awesome, and a mob similar to this is in the Tempest Box. An amazing vanilla command bundle that adds so much. I'd love to see this mob in the lava lakes of the Nether, and would give a lasting danger to the place lava, fire, other mobs and magma blocks never could, serving a Nether -equivalent of the Ender Dragon's role. Definitely post this to the Minecraft dev subreddit, and see what the devs say.

I just took the Minecraft Noob test! Check out what I scored. Think you can beat me?!
My only concern is that the mob spawning naturally might lead to some player spawning in the middle of a lava ocean and unluckily starting out close to a pryoteuthis. I suggest you make the mob summoned or only spawn a thousand blocks from spawn.
First off, I didn't know nether portals could spawn that low, so i doubt it would be an issue. Second, nether portal coordinates are based on where in the world it was built, and at a 4-1 ratio as well, so if someone built the portal 251 blocks away from spawn, they would be in the spawn zone anyways.

Alternatively, we could have something like the Wither Storm from Story Mode as the world boss.
I'd prefer a giant killer squirrel over the wither storm any day. It would be absurdly OP if it's anything like story mode and go against Minecraft's creative nature.

Oh, I didn't know you saw my Yggdrasil suggestion, But you are correct. The Witherstorm would be a terrible boss to add to Minecraft.

I never said that the Wither Storm that I suggested has to be exactly like Story Mode's.

Even if it were pulled from, say, the Engender mod, it'd still be horribly overpowered. As soon as it gets to its Destroyer phase, as BeckBroJack once said, "It's R.I.P. for your world."

It would share some of the attacks of the ordinary Wither (shoots explosive Wither Skulls, summons Wither Skeletons like in Bedrock Edition) and some all new attacks (I didn't really think this far to have any original attack ideas). That's about as far as I got with that idea.

The magma cross bow sounds very powerful, but the wither does need something more. Maybe support
Hello
may I ask what the wither has to do with this? the Magma crossbow would be attained via the Pyroteuthis.

I feel like the magma crossbow is to expensive to be of much use. BTW, how much magma cream does it use??
1 at a time, it would basically be a bow, but it launches exploding fireballs instead of arrows.
