I have an idea on a new use for bats. Bats can now be tamed, even though they usually can't in real life. What will you tame them with I do not know yet, perhaps spider eyes. When tamed bats will sit on your shoulder and be lazy like parrots during the daytime hours, and at night they will hunt and kill arthropod mobs. They will not hunt spiders and cave spiders at day, but they will continue to hunt endermites and silverfish.
I think this is a pretty neat idea, gives bats a tad bit of a purpose. Heck I would even love this if just for a pet that kinda just sits there, pet bats are awesome. Although, I'm not sure if it should be used for combat, especially since it's one of the weakest mobs in the game, maybe it could be used to echolocate treasure? If you take it in a cave with you, it'll make a screech noise when you're near treasure (chests or rare ores), and it'll point towards it and flap its wings a bit. The downside though is that they'd be easy to kill, which could serve to balance it a bit.
