Swamps already provide (in addition to slimes @ Y>40, and lilypads) an alternative to jungles for obtaining vines and the biome exclusive blue orchid (light blue dyestock) as well as a biome specific generated structure (witch hut).
Additionally, mo matter where it generates, I don't see a need for a seventh functionally identical wood.

WARNING: I have an extemely "grindy" playstyle; YMMV — if this doesn't seem fun to you, mine what you can from it & bin the rest.
I think if they added some sort of swamp exclusive mob to the swamp, like say, crocodiles, alligators or mudmen(creatures from the muddy ground that try to drown you) it would add a new layer of diffuculty and depth. They should also add two variations of the swamps, freshwater and saltwater. Saltwater swamps would only generate next to oceans and only spawn crocodiles. Also, saltwater swamps are perhaps one of the most fertile lands ever(due to the constant nutrient flow from the sea) so if wheat or potatoes grew there naturally, it would be beneficial to all, and geologically accurate. Freshwater swamps would only be found next to rivers, lakes, or be isolated, and only spawn alligators. Both swamps could spawn mudmen.
For mudmen, just think of a zombie covered in mud(or a swamp variation of the new drowned mob).
I'm not sure about swamp exclusive trees, but maybe it could work?
I think swamp wood would be better off as more of a greenish color.
I agree. I've long been a fan of BdoubleO100's resource pack which turns Jungle wood into a sort of deep olive green for the planks and other blocks, and it looks BEAUTIFUL. Having that sort of wood as a vanilla texture would add so much potential to decorating.

We need the texture of both the log and the plank, and provided with pictures. Other than crafting recipes for the stairs, slab and door, there's a possibility it could be different if you make it that way.

"Swamp Wood" doesn't sound particularly smart or realistic (Oak, Birch or Spruce).
"Willow" is more accurate for a swamp wood. It's also greenish and grows in swamps irl. Thus far, only Oak Trees generate in swamps, covered in vines that i'm guessing are meant to imitate Weeping Willows. It's only a small step to switch them.
When most players come across a swamp biome, what do they do? Farm slimes or get lily pads.
Nothing else! (At least from what I see). So I think there should be an exclusive wood found only in the swamp biome.
Swamp wood.
Ok so it would have the same uses as all woods (crafting, building etc.)
What would it look like? Simple, look behind a painting! There is a un-used wood texture behind paintings so there you go!
Now along with deserts, swamps need to be improved so an exclusive wood could be the first step to improving them.
P.s. post other ideas to improve swamps (maybe deserts) in the comments.

Check out my suggestions! Here is one of them:
You didn’t mention the blue flowers only found in swamps. That’s another reason to go there
Currently, there are 5 reasons to go to a swamp: Lily pads, vines, slime, abundance of clay, and blue orchid flowers.
Many people have suggested a swamp wood type, and I think it's long overdue.
