The keyboard function keys commonly known as F1, F2, F3, all the way to F12 are an important part of Minecraft Gameplay. Some don't do anything currently so I am looking to change that. Others however that do exist are somewhat cheaty. The cheatier of the functions are showing hitboxes, coordinates, etcetera. However, some like me would hate if we weren't allowed to hide our hotbar or minimize our screens. That's why I'm suggesting a way to fully customize which function keys work and don't. Additionally, command usage can also be customized. The uses in maps and servers are endless.
Overview
As you know, you can customize world options by clicking the more world options. There are then four options to change which include generate structures, world type, allow cheats, and bonus chest. The world type option already has a lot of customizations so I’ll just be making tweaks to the others.
Generate Structures
On: allows the creation of all structures such as villages, dungeons, etc.
Off: turns off the creation of all structures including strongholds, mansions, etc.
Customize: a scroll menu will allow you to choose between what structures you want and don’t want spawned in. (This includes ravines and floating islands as well)
Bonus Chest
None: spawns the player in without a bonus chest
Common: spawns the player in with the loot tables of the current chest
Uncommon: spawns the player in with the village loot table
Rare: spawns the player in with the nether fortress loot table
Epic: spawns the player in with the dungeon loot table
Legendary: spawns the player in with the end city loot table
Allow Cheats
Off: turns off all functions and commands
On: turns on all functions and commands
Customize: Brings up a menu that has
two buttons; commands and functions
Commands
On: turns on all commands
Off: turns off all commands
Customize: Brings up a scroll
menu with base commands
Functions
On: turns on all functions
Off: turns off all functions
Customize: brings up this
scroll menu
F1: Cycle between creative <-> spectator & surival <-> adventure
F2: Takes a screenshot and flashes screen, not litter the chat
F3: Shows debug screen (coordinates)
F4: Toggles reload of texture pack
F5: Toggles perspective (total: 3)
F6: Toggles permanent jump
F7: Toggles permanent crouch
F8: Toggles permanent sprint
F9: Shows hitbox of entities
F10: Mutes all sound
F11: Toggle full screen (works when functions are off)
F12: Run command (the player can choose specific
commands that are run with F12 + any other letter.
Commands must be turned on for this to work.)
Backspace: Reloads chunks (Much easier than before)
Caps Lock: Hides hotbar, health bar, xp bar, etc.
Alt: Replaces nametags w/hearts (not visible through walls)
Um, didn't you just post this same thread the other day? I even mentioned that it was a wishlist (not allowed) because it mentions two totally unrelated ideas (world customization and remapping function keys, which as I also noted conflict with existing, well-established functions, e.g. F2 = screenshot).

Oh sorry. I forgot about the screenshots function. I will edit that in. About the other post, my internet wasn't working properly and I thought that the thread never went up. I didn't expect it to have posted and didn't notice because it was bumped down to the next page. I am asking for a lock on the older thread.
This is not a wishlist. I am well aware of that rule that makes it so unrelated ideas in one post aren't allowed. These are all part of the world customization settings that pop up on screen. While I could have just posted each section seperately into different threads, that would be useless as these are closely related topics. They are not very detailed and are just setting to toggle. Others wouldn't enjoy useless threads wasting space on the forums page.
This overall sounds well, but I would say that entities having health over their heads should be a toggleable option instead of a function. It seems practical and useful to the point where I don't see why people wouldn't have it on most of the time.

As I'm aware, wishlists include numerous, totally unrelated concepts- the well-known "stereotypical" wishlist being something like "add buses and submarines and a new Sky dimension with sentient clouds and Sectoids from X-COM could invade with a 1/100 chance each night"- effectively, a poorly formed string of ideas in which the writer is merely excreting their flow of thoughts as they consider ideas they might write down.
This is not a wishlist, because its concepts are connected, even if tenuously. Fundamentally, I see the point of this suggestion as being "more customization for world generation and technical controls". It's also quite well written and polished (including a Textcraft header). For that reason, I can't see it as a lock-worthy wishlist, but just a suggestion formed of two main concepts.
Though you are right about how his default selections conflict with F2 and other function keys, he mentioned that they are remappable quite easily. I think that dropping the defaults and simply including remappable function keys and the options (for things like seeing entity HP or reloading your texture pack) would be quite nice for Minecraft.
Pressing alt willl turn all nametags to hearts. For the sake of PvP, the hearts couldn't be seen through walls. Blank hearts will not be shown. (for examples, if at half a heart, players looking at said mob or player will only see half heart).
This is not a wishlist, but rather the title only covers a small part of what is being suggested. Like the Aether being titled "new use for glowstone". I think a better title would be something along the lines of "more world / keyboard customization".
For the most part I support because more customization is always better, my one question is what about tab on servers? Also I'd prefer to keep F1 as it is, and move the new function to caps lock.
Since the other thread has been deleted (or will soon be) I am reposting my reply here; most of your suggestions for world customization are already implemented (use the "generate structures" option to enable or disable all structures or use Customized to choose which ones should generate):
Structures need FAR more customization than simply choosing which ones you want, something like this:
(note the settings for cave lava level and flat bedrock)
(better yet would be biome-specific settings for each biome, not just for ores but all features, though this would require a lot of settings and would probably be best left for a configuration file. Also, the max height shown for emerald is the real maximum height; for other ores it is one less, so diamond is really 0-15, not 0-16)
(this is a lot of settings but given the name of the game there should be a lot of customization of underground features)
(believe it or not, most of these settings have existed in Superflat since 2012! The reduced near origin setting tells the game whether to make mineshafts less common near the origin while section count and max span let you change their size)
(the overwrite air/liquids setting can be used to allow strongholds to fully overwrite caves and generate underwater; currently walls do not replace air and only the portal room can generate underwater)
(yes, a customized worldtype that produces REAL caves, without bizarre surface terrain, and no, this was not produced by my 1.6.4 mod but with a customized preset that produces caves and ravines with a much larger variation in size)
(another example of what can be done with these settings; a length of 1600 means a length of 1600 blocks from the start to the end of each of two branches so those caves are really long, if folded up and not very frequent)

Love it, particularly your idea for F8.
I'm one of those people who still uses W-W and not Ctrl-W, mainly because Ctrl and W are too far apart on my keyboard, but W-W is tedious because you stop sprinting whenever you run into something.
Needless to say, I support it ALL with a rating of , but support F8 the most.

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?

We're doing a mod project, check it out:
Yes, I totally agree with the health thing.

Oh I didn't even notice. I guess the generate structures can just be moved somewhere else for convenience. Very sorry.
