Something that could be /incredibly/ useful in Minecraft is a liquid or gas that flows upward, rather than down.
Similar to when water is poured, this gas will flow forward until special conditions are met. When water goes off a cliff, it flows down. When gas goes off a cliff, it keeps moving forward. It make gas actually move upward, once it hits an object it will climb up it until the objects stop, causing the gas to move forward rather than up.
Good, but I think it should basically be like upside-down water rather than going forward. That is, if you place it, it will go up immediately until it hits a ceiling. Also, if it hits the skytop, it should vanish.
Maybe you could use it to make helium balloons with string if you capture it in a bucket!

Thoughts?

Potentially adding on to this idea of a hot air balloon to fly around in that everyone is talking about. Using helium rather than fire, of course.
