Have you ever looked up into the blocky sky and wanted to touch the stars? Outer Space has been a highly requested suggestion from the minecraft community, and I believe it should be added as well. However most of the suggestions I have seen regarding the topic haven’t been thought fully out. Minecraft’s fantasy theme doesn’t fit well with rockets and UFO’s, so Outer Space must be adapted. Furthermore, Outer Space needs to be unique enough to differentiate it from the End.
If done correctly, I think that Outer Space could revitalize this game. It’s not secret that the game has passed it's golden days. The ocean overall is great, but it should have happened years ago. Back in the early days, updates with plenty of features came every couple of weeks. Now they come every 6 months, and some have very few interesting features. My idea for outer space is very radical and it would completely change the game. I doubt Mojang would ever add it, but if Minecraft wants to return to prominence something big like this is needs to happen.
As one might expect, getting to outer space is no easy task. To open a gateway to the realms beyond, the player must first kill the ender dragon and then travel to the far islands.
This ties Outer Space directly to gameplay progression. For a great boss, there isn’t much you get from the dragon fight. There’s no reason to return the end after obtaining an elytra. With the addition outer space, players will find themselves constantly traveling through the end.
In the far end islands is a rare new structure, the Endfrost. Initially when found the Endfrost gateway will be shut down, long since forgotten. It can be powered up with an Endfrost Key, which are found in End City chests (or possibly End Bunkers, an end dungeon from an old suggestion of mine).
The inside of an Endfrost. The beacon would be replaced by a new block, which when left clicked with a key will activate the ancient machine.
When powered up, the Endfrost gateway will start making noises. It will release a sudden beam of light into the empty end sky. If you walk into the beam of light, you will be transported to a faraway world.
Planets
Minecraft’s outer space would be very similar to our own, consisting of countless planets in an infinite void. Because the void of space is so large and empty, adding it into the game feels pointless. Instead the Endforst will directly transport you to a random planet.
There is an infinite number of planets in the Minecraft Galaxy. When the game is created, these planets are not generated. The moment an Endforst is activated, an entire dimension is generated through a complicated random number generator which determine dimension properties. The dimension is then added to an array specific to the savefile.
Every time you enter the Endfrost, you have no idea where you’re going. There is no way to prepare for what you will find. And with an infinite number of worlds to visit you’ll never get bored. It’s like No Man’s Sky- only with Minecraft’s superior gameplay.
Generation:
New planets are generated with a RNG for everything you can imagine. Here’s the exact rundown:
• First the new dimension is given a dimension ID. Planets are specific to worlds, so ID 6 on your creative build will be different than on your survival world. The ID will be a far negative number, to minimize the chance of conflicting with dimension adding mods.
• Next the planet is given a sky color. The sky color could be anything and is decided through RNG. There are 12,326,391 possible color combinations- the same as dyeing leather armor. There is a 5% chance the color will be the Overworld sky color.
• Next the amount of fog on the planet is determined. There are four types of fog- no fog (overworld), light fog, mild fog (nether), and heavy fog (void fog). The fog color is always the same as the sky.
• A random selection 0-3 stars and a random selection of 0-3 moons are placed within the sky. This does not happen if the planet has heavy fog.
• A randomly colored sun with a random size is chosen. Next comes how fast the sun travels around the planet, which can range from 5-30 real life minutes. This creates a day-night cycle.
• Now the planet is given a space rock. “Space rock” is a technical name, the in game name will always be [dimensionName +”rock”]. There are three types of space rock- smooth, normal, and hard. This rock will completely cover the planet. The other rock types will still generate on that planet, albeit in small quantiles like diorite.
• After the space rock texture has been determined, a random color is determined. This color is the surface of the planet. The Endfrost beam is the exact same color as the space rock color.
• Now the height range of the planet is determined. This consists of superflat to amplified, and everything in between. Most planets have Overworld style terrain. A random gravity is also chosen.
• Liquid on the planet is then determined. 50% of planets are barren, 15% have lava, 15% have acid (more info later), 15% have ice, and 5% have water. Liquid is typically pooled into small oceans (except for ice, which is scattered around and sometimes in ice spikes, even rarer the planet is completely covered in ice).
• If the planets harbors water, there is a chance trees and grass will generate on the planet. If the planet has ice or acid, there is a rare chance of only trees.
• Next cave size and rarity are determined. Caves can be as large as the nether or absent entirely.
• Coal, iron, gold, and diamond are all given spawning rates specific to that dimension. The ore blocks are overlayed with the space rock texture to blend in. With completely different ore rates one could find a planet with a very high concentration of diamonds and set up a mining operation there.
• Using the color pallet of the planet, an icon is created. This icon will appear on the Galactic Map.
Once all of these factors have been determined, the dimension will be created. But we’re not done yet. Every dimension needs at least a couple new mobs. Therefore, randomly generated “aliens” will be created. The aliens come from dozens of presets. Depending the planet a new alien might have a different color scheme or even behavior. Alien mobs will not have spawn eggs, since there's too many to keep track of.
After all of these factors have been determined, the dimension is finalized, and players can travel there. This process should take less than a half a minute while the Endfrost is “powering up”.
The following are all examples of possible worlds you might travel too. The first four are all common planets. The fifth is an example of custom structures being added to the random planets. The sixth is an “Overworld Planet”, a highly rare combination where the rock is chosen green, the sky blue, and is home to water and trees. Though unlikely, it is possible to find these hidden gems.
Discovery
But these are just 6 of literally infinite planets. Players can travel the galaxy by finding multiple Endfrosts and opening portals, an in each world you can build and explore just like in the Overworld.
When the players first spawns in a dimension there will be no portal. Instead the player will be given another Endfrost Key. When the key is left clicked a 5 second animation will show a beam of light coming down and sucking players back to the End gateway. If the player moves or is damaged during this 5 second period, the return is canceled. The key leaves the inventory after returning to the End.
When the planet is first discovered it is given the name [“Notch-” + dimensionID], a reference to the Kepler naming system. However, when the player who has discovered the planet leaves for the first time, the game will offer them the ability to name the planet. Afterwards the planet is referred to as its new name.
Should a player find a second Endfrost and power it up, they will have the option to link this gateway to an already discovered planet on the galactic map. The galactic map is a server wide map that shows all the planets discovered in the galaxy. The map can be accessed whenever the player desires through options (like the advancements tab). However, you can only travel to planets through the Endfrost. Using a key on an already powered Endfrost will turn off the portal and not destroy the key.
An example of a galactic map with only two planets discovered. The Nether and End do not appear on the galactic map whatsoever.
If cheats are enabled, a player can create a custom dimension through the command “/planet….” with all the parameters listed. People could upload their custom dimension commands online to share, like how people share custom worlds.
Legendary Items:
So, why bother to come to planets? Well, in outer space you can find legendary items. Legendary items are powerful items that only spawn on certain planets. There is only a 10% chance for each legendary to spawn on a planet, and even then they will be hard to find. Each legendary is unique and benefits all sorts of different styles of play.
Allure- An intoxicating alien flower. When right clicked, mobs in the surrounding 4 block area will be overwhelmed it's pink haze. Hostile mobs turn passive, spinning around in circles. Strangely, passive mobs turn hostile on the owner of the allure, with each hit taking away one heart. Allures disappear after a single use, but they can stack. The affect lasts for 12 seconds.
Incubator- A white dragon egg found on the ground. When right clicked, it opens up for a short period of time, like a jaw. If the player puts a mob into the incubator, it will shoot out a mob egg. Jumping into the incubator suffocates the player. The incubator slowly deteriorates over time (like an anvil). You can only collect incubators with silk touch.
Eternity Gem- 300 times rarer than diamond, these purple gems can be found ultra-rarely in dungeons or through mining. When placed in the offhand, your skin will become enchanted purple and a potion effect becomes infinite. Only one effect can become infinite at a time, and as soon as the gem is taken off the effect disappears. The gem slowly takes damage the more the effect is used (for example if you have infinite jump boast, every time you jump the gem loses one durability). The gem has 999 uses, afterwards it becomes a "withered eternity gem". The withered gem has no power, it's only use is to show everyone else you found an eternity gem.
Primordial Horn- Unlike most legendaries, this comes on every planet and is only mildy rare in dungeons. With the appearance of a sheep's horn, it is used to summon Titans, which comes out of the ground. After one use it is destroyed.
Ray- Like the horn, it comes with every planet in dungeons (though much rarer). This tiny device shoots an 12 block red laser into the direction it is pointing (with a redstone charge). It can be extended to 24 blocks by putting a block of gold underneath the ray. Any entity hit by a ray will take continuous damage (as if they are drowning), making them perfect for mob farms or protection. Right click the ray to change direction. They aren't very useful for offensive battles, because it takes time to step up. Warning: rays are very unstable, and touching one's hitbox will cause a mini explosion. Destroy from afar, and don't let any mobs touch!
Whirlwind- A strange grayish block with an animated moving texture, anyone directly underneath a whirlwind is blow up into the sky (levitation). At random intervals the blowing stops. Be careful with these, the unsuspecting player may end up dying of fall damage once they get caught up in one. You can take these back home and use them as a proto-elevator, but know they are unreliable (I suggest placing water around the whirlwind so you don't fall when it randomly stops).
Amethyst Tools/Armor- An uncommon drop from farlanders and in outpost loot chests. They function exactly like diamond, except they are purple. You can use these to show off your hard work. Amethyst items cannot be crafted in anyway.
Wormhole- The opposite of the Tesseract, wormholes are rarely found on planets. These one block structures have the appearance of an end portal. When you go into one, you'll be transported to a random previously found planet or the end. Though there is a catch- you will take a random (but large) amount of damage and the only way out is to go back into the wormhole. These cannot be minded, doing so will suck your pick into the hole...
Meteor- Common for legendaries, when mined meteors drop a random amount of diamond, gold, or iron.
Expect more in the future...
Many legendary items can be found in planetary dungeons. They may look like your average overworld dungeon, but they are much more rewarding, offering a legendary, a set of enchanted diamond, and golden apples by the dozen. They are guarded by strong hostile (or neutral if there are none) mobs from the planet.
Titans
Ancient beings descending from the first ages of the universe, Titans are bosses that spawn exclusively on outer space planets. They typically patrol the surface, but words with larger caverns might house one. Titans share the model of the unused giant.
You can find Titans naturally on planets- but only one Titan will spawn in a 16 chunk area. Or you can summon one, with the primordial horn. Lore-wise, you are not creating a titan but rather calling it from far away, but in game all this will do is create a new Titan for you to fight.
Titans have 80 hearts, and deal 25 hearts per hit. Instead of just charging at the player, titans attempt to stomp on them. They raise one of their legs, aim at where the player is, and send it hurling to the ground. You will need to quickly get out of the way. If you can evade the Titan, there will be a significant cooldown where the Titan is vulnerable
Upon the Titan's defeat, he drops a single Tesseract. This little yellow box might be the greatest of all the legendaries. When placed on the ground and right clicked, it will open up the galactic map from the Endfrost. Yes, you can travel to planets without using the Endfrost! You cannot go to new planets, but you can return to ones already discovered. As the Tesseract is continuously used, it will start to become damaged (like an anvil) and eventually will disappear as if it never existed. The Tesseract can also be used as a redstone power source, three times the strength of a redstone block
Farlanders
The Farlanders are a mighty interstellar alien race with outposts across the galaxy. Though you can't access their developed worlds, you can find farlander colonies. They look like your stereotypical little green alien.
Farlanders are neutral, with 20 HP. They trade like villager, though their trades are more unpredictable and costly (ex: 3 blocks of gold for 1 block of diamond). They also wield amethyst tools and armor, which can be traded away or dropped. They spawn only in rare outposts, small huts with a strange shrine:
New Liquid: Acid
You may have noticed acid in the generation process. Acid would be a new liquid unique to toxic planets.
Taken from the galacticraft mod. The green liquid is acid, ignore the rock surrounding it.
When a player swims in acid, they will get a “toxic” effect. When toxic, the player’s hearts turn sickly green (like how the wither turns hearts black) and get half-strength poison, slowness, and nausea effects. If the players gets out of the acid they must wait 5 seconds before the whole effect ends. Acid is twice as fast as water.
Modding Planets:
Minecraft’s modding community is probably the largest modding community ever, so I think its about time Mojang adds something that would help them out. The way I see it, modding is a perfect fit for outer space.
There would be a boolean value for every structure, model, texture, ores, sound, and even full mob. By simply setting this value to true, modding creations would be incorporated to the random generation. Modders could create custom aliens that spawn throughout the planets, or strange fauna (as pictured in potential dimension 5). Or maybe just a few extra models to add to the diversity. The possibilities are endless.
Questions and Answers
What about outer space itself? All this suggestion offers are planets. I’d like to travel to asteroids and other celestial bodies.
While it might sound cool, I doubt these could be incorporated in an engaging way. As I said before the void of space is vast and empty, which would make it boring. Asteroids also don’t seem that interesting besides mining, and suns would just be giant balls of lava.
It also doesn’t fit well with the Endfrost, which just teleports players to the planets. So outer space would never really be added, just an infinite number of random dimensions that are called planets in the “Minecraft Galaxy”.
However, perhaps asteroids and supernovas could pop up randomly on the galactic map, for atheistic purposes only. Comets can jet across the screen.
The Endfrost doesn’t make any sense. Spaceships launched from the Overworld would be a much better way to get to the stars. Speaking of which, you need to wear a spacesuit to survive outer space.
Gameplay > Realism. Spaceships just don’t fit tonally with the fantasy theme of Minecraft. Instead I based the way of traveling the cosmos on Norse Mythology, in which the Bifrost opens gateways to the many realms.
Spacesuits would just be an inconvenience, preventing players from wearing their diamond armor they worked so hard on and messing with the theme. It’s these two features that turn me off from Galacticraft- I like outer space but at the same time don’t want to mess with the core themes of the game.
The progression for outer space shouldn’t be tied to the End. You should be able to have more options in a sandbox game like Minecraft.
While I would agree with you in that we need more options for the player to take, I don’t think outer space should be accessed from the Overworld. First, it would give people a reason for coming back to the End repeatedly. People already spend most of their time in the Overworld.
Second, outer space is such a giant expansion to the game making it obtainable in early or even midgame feels wrong to me. Let the player explore and conquer their own planet before moving onto the cosmos. Outer space could be viewed as a great reward for defeating the dragon, unlocking a new stage in the progression. The End Poem says that the player will in time learn to become something bigger, maybe this is what they were referring too.
And lastly, I like the idea of the End being a hub world. Endermen would spawn on planets as common as they do in the Nether, because they are interstellar travelers too. It adds a lore to the End while still maintaining the mystery. The End’s purple sky suggests that it could be in a void, maybe a black hole separate from spacetime. Or it could be some random planet, or a special planet. Was the End always this way, or did the massive influx from the Endfrosts lead to an apocalypse?
Planets sound boring as of now. There should be more features added to them.
This came up in the comments section. Here’s a couple new reasons for coming to the planets:
• Upon traveling to a new planet, you will receive a significant amount of XP. If you are discovering the planet you will get twice as much XP.
• Aliens now occasionally drop “[name] eggs” which can be left clicked to spawn a new one of that same alien. This means you can bring back aliens to your base!
• In alien dungeons a special book unique to that planet can be found. This book can be traded to librarians for about 10 emeralds.
• Aliens also drop the item that their Overworld counterparts drop, though the quantity depends. Maybe you’ll find a creature that drops 4 bones each, in which case consider setting up a farm.
• Faction Servers would no longer be super griefed. Admins could create new planets for new adventures or just Overworld copies to keep things fresh. Or there could be faction servers where each gets its own planet!
• Mods and addons can create unique resources specific to the planets. I don’t want to add specific resources because I fear then this suggestion would become super long, jump all over the place, and in the end feel like a mod. Planets are more meant to be a blank canvas for you to do anything with. If you find a peaceful planet, consider moving your base there. Or setting up outposts across the galaxy, each for its own distinct purpose.
This sounds like a neat idea, but I doubt it could be pulled off by Mojang. This also isn’t that important compared to a Nether overhaul and others.
I’m not a professional coder (though I have been learning the basics recently) so I’m not sure if it is possible. However, I don’t think it should be too hard. Since Mojang has already created the custom world preset tab, all they need to do is add a few more features and place a RNG to it. The harder part is the custom mobs, but I think if enough people worked on it they could find a way.
As for matter of importance, I agree there are things that must be fixed before this. The ocean was the worst of the bunch, but it’s being fixed now. I’d point to the Nether as the next candidate for a major update. But after those two are out of the way, what does Minecraft do? I seriously believe something giant like this could give the game a renaissance. It would be a massive update on the level of the chunks update, maybe even deserving a change from 1.0 to 2.0.
I’d also like to say, as a closing statement, that right now the game just stops after defeating the Ender Dragon. Most players had spent their time in the game so far working towards taking down the dragon. But afterwards the game loses all sense of progression. Outer Space would provide a solution to this, as the next logical step in progression is other planets. The game would still become open-ended, but now have a proper conclusion
It's a good idea on paper, but it would end up being extremely intensive on systems, probably a Java exclusive.
The general concept of other planets is good, but I think there could be a few changes.
First of all, the rock. I don't think there needs to be 17 million different types. I'd go with a bunch of presets, probably around 50, with different textures, mining speed, etc.
Secondly, the aliens. Your proposed "system" would be intensive on systems as well. I'd suggest there be no aliens, only signs of them existing at some point through structures and such. This would make it much more possible with modern technology, and also not mess with the theme.
The planets. Having so many planets, as I said before, would be very intensive on systems. I would instead have space with no gravity or direction, where there are a set number of planets and celestial bodies. They would all be in the Solar System, a reason why there's so few. I would also suggest a "compass", that would point towards the nearest planet, the "point" being the core, a new block, most likely.
The way of getting there is, a little strange. There's nothing like it in the current game. I would suggest just going high enough would send you to this "space" dimension, where the planets would be strewn through. It would probably send you there at around 260 blocks on the Y axis, so you have to use jump boost to get there.
Acid in general is just unnecessary, if you have acid, you may as well have molten metals, frozen gases.
This idea, the way you laid it out, would just be a bad idea.
Partial Support, the concept is good but it would work better on a lower scale.

If you say something negative about my posts, I will eat your socks and steal all your iron nuggets.
Putting advanced tecnology in the game would be bad as it would take the sense of Minecraft (if it makes sense )
Not to flame, but I have to wonder if you at all read the suggestion beyond the title.
You don't use a spacesuit, or a spaceship, or any advanced technology. You use a magical portal to travel between worlds. There's literally nothing technologically advanced to that.
It's the same logic that people use when they look at, say, a musket suggestion, and write it off because "lol guns aren't medieval" when knights, castles, and matchlocks coexisted for 100+ years.
First of all, Minecraft is not dying. Please stop saying that.
And this idea is awesome. It's wonderful. It's well thought out. It's also mindbogglingly enormous. I have a decent laptop, but I'm not sure if it could generate all this stuff. I can't imagine this would fly for lower end consoles (switch, wii u).
To be clear. I love it. (except getting there is kinda weird. but eh, whatever) But I think it's too big.
You all make a good point with the potential lag. I can think of several ways for lag to be reduced:
If you own the saved world, can delete a planet from the Galactic Map at anytime. This would also be helpful to mapmakers and server owners who want to control the galaxy size. The game should encourage players to delete planets if they have no interest in returning there. Once deleted the computer no longer has to worry about any of the features from before.
If you log into a server, you will only get the data of a planet when you travel to said planet. Instead of getting everything at once you get it over time. You can also "forget" a planet, in which the computer deletes the data it received from the server.
A number of client side additions to planets can be disabled, such as custom sun, custom fog, and custom moons.
In singleplayer aliens can be outright disabled with /gamerule doAlienSpawning false.
Two major problems I have with space dimensions of any kind are that The End is a little too close style-wise to a Space Dimension, and that spacecraft-based transportation can get a player stuck in a dimension until death if the player isn't careful. This suggestion solves both major problems by making the Space Dimensions related to The End in a way and by making a portal-based system that avoids trapping players, as well as solving a lot of minor problems.
The infinite number of dimensions seems like it would be a bit intensive as others have pointed out. Personally I'd fix this by limiting each world to a set number of different randomly generated planets. (probably 10 is sufficient) In addition, the game will force certain resources required to progress onto planets. (So if there's a new ore that generates only on a certain type of planes, the game must either generate at least one of those planets, or force the ore onto a different type of planet.)
Personally I'd prefer a more limited number of planet dimensions anyway, since one player isn't going to be able to take over an entire 3-million by 3-million dimension anyway. Either that, or planets are limited to generating 1 or 2 square kilometers of terrain which is bordered by the same border that appears at 30 million blocks in other dimensions.
Mostly Support.

My avatar is a texture from a small block game I made in Python. It's not very good and it probably won't work if you install it.
I'm very alone in my Minecraft worlds as I don't have a very good internet connection to run a server. If you're like me, you might be interested in my Posse mod suggestion.
- You solved the "Space is similar to the End Dimension" problem (by making other planets accessed through the End)
- Procedural (random) generation
- Customizing abilities for mod makers
- Not overpowered
Things I Don't Like
The Dimension Being Entered Through Another 1 Block Portal
I'm not a fan of this because we already have the End Gateways, and this just feels like another one of those. I know you got the entrance idea from Norse Mythology, but compared to other dimension entrances in the game it's still unoriginal. I also don't agree that the End should be a hub world. There is little content in the End itself, so it's already boring going through it to get to your Enderman Farm. It would be the same with this. The idea of opening up a portal is awesome and creative, but we've already gotten that... three times (End Portal, End Gateway, Nether Portal).
No Actual Outer Space
Space has a lot of potential for being a place where people build, but it is completely nonexistent in this suggestion. What about building a space station? What about creating a Death Star that my friends can see from their bases? What about dropping TNT from space? What about creating massive spaceships (with plant chambers) to go on long voyages to find unique planets? So much potential is lost when you throw out the concept of having space as a dimension. I know what you're going to say: "That technology wouldn't necessarily fit in with Minecraft." However, it could be made so that it does.
No Use For The Planets
Other than curiosity, what is the appeal a planet has to a player? Would you be able to find planets full of diamonds? Even if so, there would be little motivation for the player to travel to different worlds.
Boring Aliens
1. The aliens you've suggested sound cool aesthetically, but could get repetitive
2. The aliens have no use (not even a drop besides xp)
My Solutions / Changes
Rockets To Space
I'm not talking about a craftable item, but rather a machine that can be created due to new abilities with redstone or TNT. Similar to how players can be launched, unattached chunks of blocks "glued" together by slime balls (not slime blocks, slime balls) ought to be able to be launched as well. This would allow clever and resourceful players to come up with designs to reach space; it would almost feel like you're not intended to reach space, as with the roof of the Nether. This would add to the sandbox feel. Other additions could be added, too. For example, blaze-powered furnaces (an upgraded version of normal furnaces) could somehow increase the power of TNT. Maybe a more explosion-specific version of dispensers could also be implemented. Point is, getting to space could be a lot more creative than it is now.
Something else that could work hand-in-hand with this idea is having each moon/planet be harder to get to as you get farther along. The progression could be something like the following:
1. You engineer a spaceship that can make it all the way to y-level 300, which is where it gets teleported to space (teleportation would be seamless).
2. You get enough fuel and enough plants to be able to survive the long journey to the moon, where there would be something of use.
3. (Pretty difficult) Either from a material found on the moon or lots of grinding and perseverance, you manage to get enough resources to make it to Mars (or a MInecrafty equivalent). Maybe you could also go to Venus for the same price.
4. (For crazy players) You get all the way to even farther planets (mostly dangerous gas giants)
5. (For crazy players) You manage to get yourself into another solar system, but you're unable to enter planets or moons of this yet. Planets in other solar systems would not be implemented until someone is crazy enough to go that far.
If You Really Want A Portal...
Another possible way to getting to the different planets would be a wormhole-like structure in the End. Picture yourself walking through the Outer End Islands, and you see a giant, empty circular place where there should be End islands (diameter of crater: 200 blocks). Objects near this crater have their random tick speed increased a lot. If you look down the crater carefully, you will be able to see the massive wormhole 80 blocks below your feet. Going into this would put you through a wormhole that is near the solar system of the alien planet, but with enough momentum to fling you into or near the planet. When on the alien planet, you would be able to see the wormhole in the sky among the other stars.
Give A Use For Planets
Please don't do something like "Protection 20 Diamond Helmet" or "Sharpness 8 Diamond Sword." There should still be a use for planets, though. Maybe they have NPCs that can put you through interesting quests or give you interesting items in exchange for their currency. Maybe there is a boss that will give you new blocks to build with or more fuel for your spacecraft when you kill it. Maybe there are just good resources that can be mined on the planet.
Make Aliens Not Boring
I think green llamas with stripes might be a little too unoriginal for alien mobs. A somewhat-random model generation could be included, though it couldn't be too random, or else aliens could be in the shape of offensive objects. Aliens should also have drops, or at least some sort of use.
Gravity
You should consider (if you haven't already) making each planet have a random gravity. This would make planets feel really unique and different.
As for matter of importance, I agree there are things that must be fixed before this. The ocean was the worst of the bunch, but it’s being fixed now. I’d point to the Nether as the next candidate for a major update. But after those two are out of the way, what does Minecraft do?
1. Balance combat, armor, & game progression more.
2. Balance the hunger system.
3. Make Villagers not stupid.
4. Add player-built ships.
5. Add birds to the game.
6. Make the game harder.
7. Improve world generation.
8. Improve structures and structure generation.
9. Add black and brown/grizzly bears & give bears a use.
10. Add Optifine to the game.
11. Add (optional) shaders to the game.
12. Fix/Add features the community has been asking for forever.
For now I'm going to have to say no support, but that doesn't mean my mind can't be changed. I hope you consider my criticisms. This was really fun to read! Have a nice day/evening!
A lot of people seem to be wanting a way to just build up into Space, but people don't seem to be thinking about how that works. If you just build up, would it teleport you into space? Then there would be nothing under you! You use a machine? Well, the machine doesn't travel with you. You could say it teleports with you, but what if it's too high and gets cut off? Another issue, how do you go from Outer Space to the Planets? Are they just spheres floating around? They'd have to be pretty small then (so you don't have to build thousand block long paths to go around the side), and it wouldn't make sense gravity wise. Do you just randomly teleport to the surface of a planet at a random height? How would you get down then?
As for the actual suggestion, I think this is probably the best way to go about it. The End is still empty and boring, and adding a gateway just to go to other dimensions doesn't really help that, but this suggestion isn't about the End, it's about Space. Deciding to get rid of going to suns and outer space was a good idea for the same reasons you said, and multiple RNG generated planets seems great! There are the issues of lag and running out of storage space, but then again a fully explored Minecraft world already take up like 5 terrabytes or something, so unless players are crazy dedicated to ruin their PC, it shouldn't be a huuuge issue. This addition would allow more of a sense of exploration, and some more opportunities for creativity! Although, I have a few suggestion
Make the boring wasteland planets not as common. Each planet feature should have equal chances of spawning, no one wants to find a bunch of empty planets, that isn't fun.
Give planets limited color schemes. This would dictate what color the stone, aliens, and structures are, no one wants to see a neon pink and lime space cow on a pure black forest planet.
Add the ability to create your own planets in creative using some kind of menu, and add some sort of "search" function to survival, to perhaps limit what planets will be generated to a degree.
A lot of people seem to be wanting a way to just build up into Space, but people don't seem to be thinking about how that works. If you just build up, would it teleport you into space? Yes, actually, you would. Then there would be nothing under you! If you go close enough to the planet, you would begin to fall and then teleport back to the top of the planet's dimension. You use a machine? Well, the machine doesn't travel with you. You could say it teleports with you, but what if it's too high and gets cut off? Actually, unless the machines were using a sketchy clone-command thing, they would have to be entities, meaning they would go to space with you, regardless of their size. Another issue, how do you go from Outer Space to the Planets? Like I mentioned earlier, you would start falling if you get close enough and then you would be teleported onto the planet. Are they just spheres floating around? No, they would be cubes because the Minecraft moon and Sun are cubes. They'd have to be pretty small then (so you don't have to build thousand block long paths to go around the side), and it wouldn't make sense gravity wise. Of course a cubical planet wouldn't make sense gravity wise. This is a game about cubes, though, so it doesn't matter. Do you just randomly teleport to the surface of a planet at a random height? How would you get down then? You teleport to the highest point you can be on the planet without going back into space. As for getting down, well... there's this little thing called gravity. Let's just hope you've entered with a spaceship or elytra.
This seems to be a solid idea. In my opinion, it seems more fantasy than science fiction because of the connections to Norse Mythology. This would also add a lot of new content.
I like where you're going with this suggestion, but it really feels like something that wouldn't show up in the base game, but rather a mod. Half support.

so while i like the idea, there are a few issues with Execution.
First, each dimension has it's own "style" that differentiates it from one another, the overworld is simple. with differently styled, but consistent biomes. the Nether is a Hellish cave, with tons of lava and many different layers, the end is endless islands in an infinite abbeys, full of alien creatures and remenents of civilization. and if we want to get theoretical, the Frist which we're working on are huge, frozen islands separated by a sea of Nitrogen. All 4 of those dimensions are unique is obvious ways. but going by your pictures, the different planets are mostly just re-skins of a specific overworld Biome. and the mob generation doesn't help either
Second, There's not much incentive to explore these planets, sure you may find one with Ludacris diamond spawn rates, but the chances are so rare, that you may have to discover tens of hundreds of them to get a good one. and in the meantime i could just strip mine in the overworld to get all the diamonds i could ever need.
Overall, while i like the concept, i feel as though execution and lack of incentive really bring this idea down Minimal support

This is a good point. Because the planets are so bare, there really isn't much incentive to go there in the first place. Sure, you might want to go to see it, but if you just want to see it you can just go to it in Creative Mode. Strip mining in the Overworld, as you mentioned, is actually pretty powerful, so diamonds can't really be used as much of a motivation.
I think the "aliens" need to be expanded upon; they need drops, unique behaviors, and more unique models. Maybe there could be randomly generated bosses similar to how there would be randomly generated mobs. Different planets should also provide different resources for the player, whether that be an abundance of quartz (or a new block) for building, or a crazy amount of a material, such as gunpowder or slime.
Also, not sure i mentioned it, but it's procedural generation. which while on it's own isn't a bad thing at all, when you're relying on it to create tons of places for the player to explore, well, there's a reason no man's sky was such a flop. well, there where a few reasons, but the procedural generation was one of them

It seems to me that the biggest issue is the lack of purpose behind the planets. I didn’t think much on a reason to go the planets besides it exploring diverse landscapes and maybe finding planets with a high diamond concentration.
So without further ado here’s a couple new reasons for coming to the planets:
It seems to me that the biggest issue is the lack of purpose behind the planets. that's nice

ok, that's cool
• In alien dungeons a special book unique to that planet can be found. This book can be traded to librarians for about 10 emeralds.
considering how hard these are to get to, i'd say 32-64 emeralds would be better
• Aliens also drop the item that their Overworld counterparts drop, though the quantity depends. Maybe you’ll find a creature that drops 4 bones each, in which case consider setting up a farm.
yeah, that could be useful

the planet thing would be fun

If you log into a server, you will only get the data of a planet when you travel to said planet. Instead of getting everything at once you get it over time. You can also "forget" a planet, in which the computer deletes the data it received from the server.
You don't really need some of these things. The server already only sends the client data about the chunks in your view distance, if it sent data about the entire world then it would be impossible to play multiplayer. Also, the client doesn't save the data it receives from the server so no need to delete any data.
I woudn't call this Galactica at all, it would call this StargateCraft or Portalcraft. Since this is essentially what this is about.
The argument that spaceships don't fit into fantasy setting of minecraft is hogwash. There this thing called steampunk who don't care about super scifi stuff. If you look up in the internet Spelljammer where sailing ships are using in a fantasy setting to sail the ink black space.
Coding is hard, very hard. Complicated with lengthy codes if you have something that uses movecraft that shows big vehicles moving (by teleporting them every half-dozen blocks per movement).
This good work, you should team up with others help you get more content. Worlds you have players goto need something more, like alien ruins or 1 unique mob if that's possible.

Now on reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/minecraftsuggestions/comments/8eoyzh/update_galactica_outer_space_in_minecraft_long/
Reaching Outer Space
To infinity and beyond!
Ugh, this was a long read.
Minecraft have a "Medieval" style.
Putting advanced tecnology in the game would be bad as it would take the sense of Minecraft (if it makes sense

We're doing a mod project, check it out:
First of all, Minecraft is not dying. Please stop saying that.
And this idea is awesome. It's wonderful. It's well thought out. It's also mindbogglingly enormous. I have a decent laptop, but I'm not sure if it could generate all this stuff. I can't imagine this would fly for lower end consoles (switch, wii u).
To be clear. I love it. (except getting there is kinda weird. but eh, whatever) But I think it's too big.
You all make a good point with the potential lag. I can think of several ways for lag to be reduced:
I like it!
Things I Like
- You solved the "Space is similar to the End Dimension" problem (by making other planets accessed through the End)
One Last Thing...
Check out my suggestions! Here is one of them:

Current avatar: Ralsei from Deltarune.
so while i like the idea, there are a few issues with Execution.

Check out my suggestions! Here is one of them:
Also, not sure i mentioned it, but it's procedural generation. which while on it's own isn't a bad thing at all, when you're relying on it to create tons of places for the player to explore, well, there's a reason no man's sky was such a flop. well, there where a few reasons, but the procedural generation was one of them

It seems to me that the biggest issue is the lack of purpose behind the planets. I didn’t think much on a reason to go the planets besides it exploring diverse landscapes and maybe finding planets with a high diamond concentration.
So without further ado here’s a couple new reasons for coming to the planets:

You don't really need some of these things. The server already only sends the client data about the chunks in your view distance, if it sent data about the entire world then it would be impossible to play multiplayer. Also, the client doesn't save the data it receives from the server so no need to delete any data.
I Iike this.
