When discussing the 1.14 water-flow mechanics changes (current info suggests that old flow mechanics will stay put with a way for players to manually convert specific fences/etc via rightclicking with a water bucket), one thing that occurred to me was that it'll be quite tedious and annoying to manually go through an entire build fixing all the airhole problems.
Tentatively labeled the GO block (the model would be similar to the other structure blocks, but with a G on it), it would probably not be compatible with the S block (which is what, I think, commits the area to the schematic?). It would have an UI consisting of the following:
1)a list of all defined actions being performed
2)various buttons for management of the actions list (add, edit, delete, etc)
3)a 1-slot grid for selecting an action to take (a filled bucket to place that liquid, an empty bucket to remove it, a pick/shovel/axe/shears to remove their appropriate blocks, etc). If a block is placed here, that block will be placed upon or possibly replace the target object
4)a 6-slot grid for selecting objects to perform the action on (for example, use a pick only on diorite/granite/andesite, add water to fences)
I suppose the basic intent is a WYSIWYG variation of a command block...
quote=DuhDerp I suppose the basic intent is a WYSIWYG variation of a command block...
.
That's what this sounded like to me as I was reading it…
This is a very useful suggestion (although adding a UI driven command block variant is probably overkill) and I expect to see command scripts and or 'mini-mods' that provide this functionality appearing immediately after 1.14 (or 1.13 as it now seems slated to be numbered ) stabilizes.
Hopefully this idea will be promulgated (far and wide) to all and sundry (most particularly to those making the most noise about having to click each block they want filled)
Please note, I'm neither being srcastic, nor damning with faint praise: this sort of thinking (finding a comparatively simple way of achieving a desired end with what already exists in-game) would do much to quench the "religious wars" I've been seeing on Reddit were it more wide spread.
Such a command block script would be particularly useful if it is possible to issue players with an uneditable command block. [My knowledge of what is possible while running a server is insufficient to know if this can be done, much less how difficult it would be, or any potential pitfalls….]
