Goblins are mobs that spawn underground. They act like villagers but underground, and they use gold as currency. They are pale green, .5m tall, and otherwise look like villagers. There are blue-robed goblins, which sell and upgrade mechanical hearts. Mechanical hearts are items with levels. they look like metal boxes, and give health boost n at level n. They can be bought with a broken box and 20 gold. The broken box is crafted with redstone, a health potion, a fermented spider eye, and 6 iron. They cost 10 gold for upgrades.

That thing is going to have a tiny hitbox. Unless you want to make an atmospheric mob like the bat, please increase the size of that thing. Also, why are we using gold instead of emeralds, which are already meant to be a currency unit?
There are blue-robed goblins, which sell and upgrade mechanical hearts. Skipping ahead, you don't mention any other robes of goblins. Were you on a time limit to create this thread, or are all of the goblins blue robes?
And why can't this just be a villager variation instead of an entirely new mob?
Mechanical hearts are items with levels. they look like metal boxes, and give health boost n at level n.
This sounds incredibly easy to become overpowered, except you don't actually mention how much health boost you intend on giving the player with the maximum-sized canister.

I don't like the idea of crafting a box meant only for this purpose. Maybe I should find these in dungeons? Also, if you mean 10 gold ingots, that is cheap. I would rather it be a dungeon loot item than a crafted item.
Also, how can an item be broken when I've just made it.

This is something that I might even be interested in seeing come to fruition, but you need to specify more about these goblins then one career and one trade. Where do they spawn? Do Zombies still attack them? How many hearts do they have? What other robes can they spawn with?

My avatar is a texture from a small block game I made in Python. It's not very good and it probably won't work if you install it.
I'm very alone in my Minecraft worlds as I don't have a very good internet connection to run a server. If you're like me, you might be interested in my Posse mod suggestion.
I like the idea of there being more underground than mining and fighting, but I think integrating something like this {underground village-equivalents} into the game would require something on the lines of Update: Subterrania rather than a simple mob add.
Not the main concern , but I expected a 'Goblin' to be hostile; 'Troglodyte' for underground dweller might be more descriptive.
Thinking about this while brewing a pot, this is a big idea: much more needs to be fleshed out about where and how they live, act, and interact.
The reply got long and complex enough (as well as different enough from what you seem to be thinking of) that I've posted it as its own (roughed-out) suggestion Troglodyte (underground villager/village)
Good inspiration, and I'll look forward to seeing how you develope the mechano-heart & gold economy ideas :>:

WARNING: I have an extemely "grindy" playstyle; YMMV — if this doesn't seem fun to you, mine what you can from it & bin the rest.
Adding gold as currency would be a terrible decision. Emeralds were thrown in to be something original in terms of currency, and not gold which an infinite amount of games always overuse... Don't see any point in the "broken box" thing.

Yeah, that guy in the avatar is me. I'm *that* strange. It happens. Sometimes people act like that. Just go with it. I can offer help with suggestions even before you post them - NOT make your suggestions - but help you with them.

We already have villagers, so I think goblins should not be a creature aside the villagers, but instead a kind of "villager derivative" (a bit like the Illager concept) : there would be underground villages with similar structures (church, forge, etc.), but with some tiny difference wich makes the thing interesting (ie gold as a currency).
BTW the mechanical hearth must have its own thread of discussion.

🥖 As a french I usually make english mistakes, so don't be afraid to correct me if I used an inappropriate word. Thanks. 🥖
This is nice but except gonlin mod, maybe a goblin table insted like an inchanted table but this table is work to reengineered the tools equipment and armors. In this way it will be more on player advantage than a mob recreation.
