I had a lot of idead recently and I decided to post them all.
1: Push-to-talk in multiplayer.
This could be very helpful in a lot of ways. If you are being chased by mobs, you can't type. If people try to talk to you, and you don't respond, they just think you are an ass. Same goes if you are mining. If something is typed, and you miss it, you look bad. Push-to talk support could fix this. I can see why this would be bad in public servers, but it would be great in private servers.
2: A large crafting bench.
It's true that the amount of crafting templates is constantly growing, but there are some things that can't be made with 9 blocks. A large crafting bench could open a whole new variety of possibillities. There could be low power guns, powerjacks (Like a pick but much faster), something decorative like a lava lamp, and lots of other things.
3: more biomes.
This is not a new suggestion, but it really should be done. So far, there are really only 3 ditinguishable biomes: forest, snow, and desert. Here are some other biomes:
a. Dense jungle: I know there already is a jungle biome, but it doesn't feel like a jungle. There could be areas with massive trees. The treetops would completely cover the area and block out the sun. It would almost be like an above ground cave. The area would be dense with trees and hard to travel in.
b. Marsh land: Minecraft is missing a large part of the world, and that is mud. Marshland would be a large area full of mud and water. A mud block would replace wet dirt. It could be like soul sand and slow players and mobs travelling over it. These areas could be abundant in life, both friendly, and hostile.
c. Mountains: Technically, there are already mountains, but they don't look mountainy. They look like hills. If Notch could raise the sky, it would make room for some truely impressive mountain areas. Mountain tops would be rugged stone areas with very dangerous drops. There could even be snow biomes within mountains. A mountain vista could really add to the already beautiful worlds in minecraft.
d. the pain-forest: This is an old joke by now, but it could work. It would be a neither-specific biome where trees grow iron. There could also be rediculous amounts of mobs in the pain forest, adding a large risk-reward factor. It could have soul sand and lakes of lava in abundance also.
4: Biome-specific animals.
This could really add to the realism of minecraft. There could be snakes in deserts, deer and lions in forests, penguins in snow, and others. A large base of wildlife could go a long way in a game like this. (Especially birds. I think more birds in mincecraft would be awsome.)
5: A TUTORIAL!!!
This is very important. Having some kind of tutorial for new players could be a great way to get people into the game. The first night is a scary and confusing experience for everyone. While a tutorial doesn't have to make it less scary, a less confusing entrance would be very nice.
I really hope that notch takes all of these into consideration, and impliments at least 1 into the game.
I must reccommend something, after welcomming you (Welcome!): try to not make wishlists. Make a topic for each of your ideas that aren't related, it would be best for discussion. Also, what last post said: There are people who made topics and have discussions and expand their ideas there, you can join in anytime. Now, my opinion about your wishlist:
- Push-to-talk: This feature would be best as a toggable option for servers, as not all people want to use voicechat, specially with possible little kids (and big kids with little brain). Not a bad idea.
- Large Workbench: Maybe later we will need this, if Mojang feels like it. That, or being able to reconfigure the 9-space grid to other forms, to fit creations, as you said. It is a possibly good idea. Not for a short term of time, though.
- Biomes+: Most likely will happen. Also, your marsh land idea is shown in Minecraft docummentary as a concept, I think. Biomes aren't done, and that is for sure.
- Biome animals: Same as Biomes+.
- Tutorial: Notch possible idea for achievements hints at this. Achievements will at firs consist of easy tasks, which will hint at what you need to do. Later on, more complex things... and at the end, something like kill a dragon. Honest, it is said so!
Good ideas, overall, but please expand on them, and try to look for other people topics. Welcome here!
Thanks for the feedback, but I will say that voice chat should be kept out of public servers all together. If implimented, they would soon become loud and annoying. They would be full of screaming 5 year olds and D-bags spamming Harry Potter porn. (Yes, this has happened in TF2. I still have nightmares.)

Bigger bench, no. Unneeded.
More biomes/current biomes more unique, yes.
Incompetence is a plague. I am the cure.
