A few months ago, I had the idea of there being different armour types with the same durability as others, to encourage customizability since Leather is so weak.
I will edit this post with new ideas when I have them.
They will sometimes have complimentary weapons.
Same durability as Diamond, crafted by surrounding Diamond armour with Chorus Fruit.
Would have a deep, royal purple shade, with 2 end stone horns poking upwards from the sides.
Same durability as Diamond, crafted by surrounding Diamond armour with Gold Nuggets.
The helmet would be a crown, with a big emerald at the front, and assorted jewels studded around it. The chestplate would be a fluffy red robe with white on the edges. The Leggings would be a simple gray, and the Boots would be a darker gray.
Infinite durability, uncraftable.
The helmet would be a leather helmet with a triangular flag poking out of the top. The flag could by dyed, being used for team-based competitive minigames.
Same durability as Iron, crafted by surrounding an Iron helmet with bone meal, and the rest with leather.
The helmet would be a broken skull, belonging to a cow or bull. The rest would be a fur cloth wrapped around the player's body.
There would be 2 complimentary weapons, the first being a giant bone, possibly from the animal that makes up the fossils found in Deserts and Swamps, crafted by surrounding a Diamond sword with bone meal. The Second would be a big cartoonish top-heavy wooden club, crafted by surrounding an iron sword with sticks.
Same durability as Diamond, crafted by surrounding Diamond armour with prismarine shards.
The helmet would have a dark prismarine shade, but with the helmet texture (minus the shine), with Elder Guardian horns poking out of it. The chestplate would have a prismarine texture with Elder Guardian horns poking out of the shoulders. The rest would just have a prismarine texture.
Same durability as Iron, crafted by surrounding Iron armour with iron nuggets.
The helmet would have a horizontal gold stripe above the eyes and a big, cartoonish dye-able plume coming out of the top. The rest would basically be a slightly darker iron with bits of chainmail throughout.
To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand KittyCatPerson's threads. The humor is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also KittyCatPerson's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation - his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realize that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike KittyCatPerson's threads truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in KittyCatPerson's existential catchphrase "spank me daddy," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons.
While the armor would look nice, I don't think it's necessary. These are all decorative armor, but right now each armor has unique stats. Also, most armors all look the same (diamond is light blue throughout, gold is yellow throughout). Your armor also skips this rule in favor of it looking nice. Some of the armors don't make much sense in the game even they had their own unique stats (caveman and roman armor?). Lastly, I don't think we need to add extra weapons just for a decorative armor set.
I don't see too much of a point in adding decorative/sprite-change armors... And the team helmet is more multiplayer-oriented and doesn't seem to have that much of a purpose in singleplayer. No support.

Yeah, that guy in the avatar is me. I'm *that* strange. It happens. Sometimes people act like that. Just go with it. I can offer help with suggestions even before you post them - NOT make your suggestions - but help you with them.
I mean, it would be cool and all, but I feel like leather armor is really as far as armor customization needs to go. You've got the ability to mix and match 4 slots with 16 possible colors each, which is actually not bad. Sure, it's basically unusable as actual armor but it still serves all the cosmetic needs. They're all still leather armor, too, and very recognizably so. Adding what's essentially variations of diamond and iron armor, but that don't look anything like them, would just be confusing to a lot of people. Plus, the few sets that you're suggesting would likely only be appealing to a few, since it's basically impossible to cater to everyone with something like that. Other than the ones based off of minecraft content, like prismarine armor, I would strongly go against adding those to the main game.
The team helmet is pretty redundant, since if you were making a map where you wanted to show teams by helmet color, you would definitely just use colored leather with unlimited durability granted through commands. A flag sounds like it would be less visible anyway, unless you made it annoyingly large.

Even though my Join date is in 2014, I tried the demo on 8/30/2012, and bought the game two days later on 9/1/2012. So hipster
