Hi everyone! After reviewing the response from my previous post, Lore, (check out the original post here: http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/minecraft-discussion/suggestions/2855633-lore ) I have decided to do another post instead of editing my old post due to the fact that I'm changing so much. So I'm going to Scrap the medium/full on lore idea and come up with something else. I think it would be a good idea to add SUBTLE Lore. (I'm putting emphasis on the word lore for people who live under a rock) So instead of putting a whole backstory on minecraft which is notorious for having now limits and no story, I would like to add subtle references to some forerunner species which came before villagers, Mobs and the player. For example who has ever wondered where dungeons, strongholds, or even nether fortresses came from?? (clue: me) I think that maybe we could add more Abandoned structures and expand the variety of items in chests. For example we could add an abandoned house out in the forest which looks like it was created by the player.
(maybe take some inspiration from player built houses on their maybe 10th time building a house? These buildings could come in 2 varieties: Fresh and Old.
For the Fresh type the buildings could look like they were just left as if a player or entity left for a mining trip and never returned. These structures could have a furnace, crafting table, bed, multiple chests, and torches in their interior. Also the building would be left intact. (more on that in the Old buildings) As well as getting free items from the house the chests could have anything from gems and ore to food and building supplies. There could also be a new item that generates in chests: a book and quill. (when I say new item I don't mean a new minecraft item I mean something that doesn't usually spawn in chests) These book and quills could contain an extract from an exploratory trip, a mining trip or just the day to day life of someone or something. These could be used to hint at some entity using and shaping the world before the player.
Now onto the old buildings. Now instead of being intact Like the Fresh houses these ones are missing several blocks and looks like a struggle had occurred. They could be missing doors, windows, part of the wall or part of the roof. They could also be missing some of the decoration blocks from the Fresh houses. (furnace, bed etc) In the chests (if they have one) they could have the same items as the fresh houses but instead of a pleasant extract in the book and quills we have a more dark and foreboding extract. We could have a recount of a death of a friend, an attack by mobs or some weird things happening in their world. The book and quills could also be reused instead of having to craft them. (forgot to mention that in the Fresh houses section.)
Also we can find these book and quills in dungeons, villages, strongholds, end cities and nether fortresses.
Also I think that the book and quills could be written from the perspective of the illagers in mansions. For example here is an illager extract: DAY 1: I have been forced out of my local village due to my recent dabbling's in the dark arts. My fellows felt that I was a threat and drove me from the village welding hoes and fish. in return I cursed them turning them into an army of zombies. (maybe this is how some villages spawn with every villager as a zombie.) I made my way into the forest and stumbled across a huge building. it looked empty so I promptly moved in. DAY 11: Many other rejects from villages have swarmed into my mansion and I have welcomed them. Together we can take back our villages!
That's all! Sorry if this has been a long thread and I am thankful for your time. Please comment your responses and/or criticisms. I will be happy to hear a wide spectrum of responses Also I would like to host a poll: do you think this post is better than the previous post I did for any of you who bothered to read it? Please vote fairly and have a nice time!!
