So the Savannah was an interesting addition to Minecraft. It added a unique biome with trees and also introduced the Acacia set with it. However, beyond that it is a very bland biome in my opinion. That is why I think they should add some biome specific updates to the Savannah to give it a unique feeling. The first thing are mobs, and I have 3. The first one is the Lion. It is a semi-rare hostile mob that will attack on sight and not stop unless eye contact is broken or you kill it or it kills you. The lion drops its pelt which can be used to create a reinforcement on any armor. Second off would be the Zebra. The Zebra is more common than the lion and can be found in packs around the biome. It has basically the same purpose of the horse, but can run faster than the horse. Finally is the Elephant. The Elephant is extremely rare and usually found alone or in groups of 2. They are neutral and will only attack when provoked. However when it is provoked it is a killing machine. It has tons of health, deals major damage and knock back, and can charge at extremely high speeds. However, you can also tame these elephants. You will do so with wheat, but it will take a lot of wheat (20-30) in order to tame it. Once it is tamed, the elephant can be ridden and given a unique saddle just for it. This saddle is known as the Elephant saddle. It can be crafted, but requires 1 saddle surrounded by 8 Lion Pelt. However, you can go even further. You can make a War Elephant Saddle that lets 2 people ride on top of the Elephant and shoot arrows. This is made by taking the Elephant Saddle and surrounding it by Wood Planks and Iron along the top row. Now onto my second idea, structures. I think there should be the rib cage buried into the ground that while serves no purpose, it does add a bit of flair to the biome. Next is the lion's den. This is where you can find lions and a chest at the back with mid-tier loot inside of it. Finally, the Haunted Tribal Village. This is basically a custom-designed village with walls surrounding it and a gate at the front that is filled with Zombies, Skeletons, Wither Skeletons, and Creepers. It has 1 main path with houses along the side and a big house at the end. In each house there can be loot but there is guaranteed loot in the last house. This is where the new mini-boss comes in. The Tribal Leader Ghost will be waiting for you and cannot be hit by normal attacks. What he does is send out a spear that you can knock back into him and damage him. However, once he hits half health this no longer works. He will know start attacking you directly and you must let him either hit a wall or block him to stun him. Once you do, he will be susceptible to normal attacks and you can finish him off. Once he does die, he drops Ghast Tears, Lion Pelt, and on rare occasions, a Elephant Saddle. In the back will be a chest with high-tier loot waiting for you. Finally, the climate itself. The Savannah would be a hot biome if temperature were to be a thing in Minecraft, so I believe that when it is day, you get a sun shimmer effect on your screen that isn't bothering but is there.
Guys, I get it. Minecraft used to be a very simple game and with all this new stuff some of you are not happy. However, I'm just throwing some ideas out there. They may seem wild, far fetched, and insane, but they are things that I thought of and wanted to put to the community. So please don't spam me with comments about how "This is stupid." and "No-one will ever want this." Unlike what seems to be 80% of the fan base, I am happy with the direction Minecraft on the Java edition is going in terms of content updates and just wanted to throw ideas out there.
First of all, fix that massive wall of text. Create new lines until each separate idea is on its own. Secondly, you didn't mention any of the mob's stats.
The Lion sounds pointless, and its unique drop is just as pointless. The second-best tier in the game is iron, and iron is very common. Its den structure doesn't sound creative, as a simple small chest wouldn't make searching these out worthwhile.
The Zebra would make horses obsolete, and zebras have weaker backs than horses so a player couldn't ride one. There's no point in making them carry supplies, either, due to llamas serving this function.
The elephants are completely unbalanced: massive health, damage and knockback, all tamable, with two players being able to ride it and splash potions on it or use a bow.
Rib cages already exist on the ground.
The unique village sounds decent, but what I feel would work better is to replace the Tribal Ghost miniboss with simple Tribals and have them spawn throughout the village, similar to Guardian spawning. When a Tribal would be killed, it could have a chance at dropping a spear, which could then be placed like a 2-block long/tall end rod and could be climbed on.
Overall, partial support.

Watch out for the crabocalypse. Some say the day will never come. But it will.
Feel free to drop by for a chat whenever.
If you'd like to talk with me about other games, here are a few I play.
Team Fortress 2
Borderlands series (Borderlands 2 is my favorite game, ever. TPS combat is a lot of fun and makes up for the lower-quality story, in my opinion)
Elder Scrolls series
Warframe (IGN is something like That_One_Flesh_Atronach)
Pokémon series (HGSS forever)
Left 4 Dead 2 (Boomer files always corrupt though)
SUPERHOT (SUPERHOT is the most innovative shooter I've played in years!)
Dead Rising series (Dead Rising 2 is one of my favorite games, and the 3rd was a lot of fun. 1st has poor survivor AI and the 4th is bad)
7 Days to Die
Just Cause series
Come to think of it, I mainly play fighting-based games.
Thank you for the criticism, and I really do mean that. You are 110% correct in the fact that I need to break up my post, and that I need to be more specific. So let me do so. The lion in my opinion is not pointless. It's pelt can reinforce armor AND is used in the crafting of the Elephant saddle. While it may only be used for just that, it stay has a purpose.
The Zebra I explained poorly. While it does run faster than the Horse, it cannot jump like a horse can. While this may seem unrealistic and like a bad idea, it is a trade off. Also, you stated that the Zebra's back would be too weak. This is a game where real life laws and physics do not usually apply. While maybe in real life you couldn't, in this game you can.
I partially agree with you on the elephant. It could use some balancing, but it is meant to be tanky overall. It is a extremely rare mob that you would most likely have to spend hours of playtime just to walk into one. Once you do, this power to walk around on a tank shooting arrows and potions is the reward. I mean, wouldn't you hate to find it and the only thing you can do is ride it?
My bad on the rib cages.
I 100% agree with you on the Tribal Village. No questions asked.
Thank you for the criticism and I will definitely take it in. I hope my comment provided some insight into what my plan was.
I very much wish to see more biome specific animals. 😊
EDIT, on further thinking it over...
Could someone please take the time to check out http://wearetherangers.com/ specific to how THEY would modify it to make it "Vanilla ready for Savannah biome"? Unfortunately for me, I'm working 11 hr days and I have a very tiny window in which to eat, follow up on issues with my own server, manage to play at all before I have to be sleeping so I can do the 11 hr grind tomorrow. Otherwise, I'd spend a good six hours puttering around with WATR and think about how their work could be honored in Vanilla Minecraft, and report *here* what I find.
But if someone else could do that, it would be a kindness, and I'd seriously like to see lions, elephants, giraffes and such in the Savannah biome. The trick is in getting suggestions formed in a way either Mojang would see fit to bring those into Minecraft or someone could bring it in as a mod as stuff like The Tempest's Box becomes easier to do. Or heck, maybe TTB could use the ideas for Savannah.
