Yes, this is a planned gamemode, I'm just building upon it.
THERE IS NO ESCAPE.
Creating a new world would let choose between two gamemodes:
Survival- the one we have now
Zombie Seige- zombies, ZOMBIES EVERYWHERE
Starting a Zombie Seige world would still let you destroy blocks, but would not drop any items and would have an increasing number of waves when the night comes again and again..
There would not be any mobs other than zombies(these guys are smarter than the normal ones, they know how to punch stuff that get in the way!), which would have a high rate of food and stone swords. Every once in a while, a Zombie might drop a full chest which is filled with lots of blocks and bricks to create your fortress of defense. With added challenge, the farther you are in the game, stronger, armored zombies might appear, which would then leave ingots of same material as their armor. To make even more interesting, score is counted with combos and special items increasing the multiplier!

1: you have a 3x3 grid in your inv.
2: blocks placed by you CAN be broken, but it takes 3x longer
3: zombie break blocks at the speed of the correct stone tool
4: they re-gen at 1 health per second
5: every other day they gain another half heart of health
6: they don't burn up
And for weeks new drops
0: pork, shrooms, planks, coal, flint, dirt, gravel, sand, clay, cobblestone, feathers, wool
1: bread, wheat, wood tools, logs, gunpowder, seeds, eggs
2: stone tools, leather, torches, string, iron ingots
3: leather armor, gold ingots, reed, slime, sugar
and can't figure from here...
also, occasionally there should be mutations, with different icons to indicate power (just for here) = 1 =2 =3 =4 =5
Hurler: these zombies have only a few hearts of health, but they do throw slime at you for 1 damage
Skitter: small little zombies with only 1 health
Beast: a huge 6 block tall 4 legged zombie with 3x health of normal
Stalker: always invisible zombies
