Hi ppl. Today i was choosing what colour bed i wanted for a minecraft texture pack and then it occured to me that minecraft should have different coloured beds! Instead of white wool making a red/blue bed, it should make a white bed. And red should make a red bed, and so on. This would be awesome because i would like to have a lime green bed. :biggrin.gif:

The purpose of a bed is to sleep on. It is not primarily for aesthetics. The color of a bed does not change its function. This is unnecessary. Also, please us the searchbar.
This is a great idea considering that we can use different colors of wool to make the beds but can't affect the actual color of the beds as of now in 1.3.
And to those arguing that it would be pointless, answer me this: why do we get the ability to use and craft colored wool if we didn't need it? Why do we now have slabs of different types if they all do the same thing as the original stone slab? The answer is simple: aesthetics. Not all blocks have to have a practical function if they can have a practical form. And just because something has useful function doesn't make it ineligible to have a useful form as well.
You have to remember that many different people play this game in many different ways and some like to do interior design. Also, before you bring up the texture pack argument, let me remind you that not everyone wants to use texture packs.
The only real problem that I see is the inevitable day when we run out of space in the terrain.png which can most likely be averted by making the base picture containing the bedsheets gray-scale and picking the colors like it has been done with other color-changing blocks (like redstone and grass).

WOAH, WAIT. Our eyes take pictures? Please tell me I can recover these pictures from another person.
You have to stick a thumb drive up their nose, drag and drop the pictures onto it, and then load them through your ear.
