Besides being an extremely sexy color, Lapus Lazuli is quite useless.
I was thinking that crafting it with a used tool or weapon will repair it (fully? or too overpowered? perhaps use more than just one piece)
Or it could be an "alchemical" substance. For instance, if crafted with a pork chop and then cooked, it could give you some sort of buff (Enhanced speed? Shorter mine times? Increased knockback on mobs?)
A bit more specific of a use for this ore: a drill. Digs through anything (except obsidian and bedrock) with ease. Only problem is its low ore recovery rate, similar to TNT (perhaps even lower).
